On June 23, police officers in Illinois were fired upon. They returned fire and killed the suspect. Without knowing the race of the officers, this justified shooting was already considered racist because the suspect was black. The case takes on even more racial dimensions because it has been revealed that the man police shot to death was a member of the Black Panther Party. And yes, the Black Panthers are calling this a murder.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that a week ago Bellville, IL police officers were responding to a call about a drunk man waving a gun around at an apartment complex. They encountered 35-year old Angelo Brown standing in the open doorway of an apartment. When Brown saw the officers, he took off running behind the apartment building.
The officers chased Brown and when they caught up to him, he fired at them. Two officers returned fire, hitting Brown several times. Brown was transferred to the hospital where he died. A small caliber handgun was recovered from the scene. No officers were hurt in the attack.
This is about as justified of a police shooting as you will find, but there are some ridiculous complications. Angelo Brown also went by the name General Minister Houdari Juelani and he was a “National Minister of Defense HQ” with The Revolutionary Black Panther Party.
On their 1990’s-style website the RPBP issued a combination memorial and declaration of war:

I have no idea what RBG is or where they could possibly have flags to fly at half-staff, but the second part of that sure sounds like a threat. When Black Panthers deal with things “affirmatively” it doesn’t mean the same as how the rest of the world uses that word.
Other info about Brown/Juelani includes:
A hard working father of 13 children whom depended on his support, love, guidance and positive, friendly and upright life.
13 children? Holy crap! Apparently this guy has never heard of a condom. Also, how much support do we think this guy provided for his numerous offspring? And while we’re on that subject, if you have 13 kids that depend on you, maybe shooting at police officers isn’t such a good idea.
He lived a clean life, according to the RBPP Policy, Protocol, Position & Procedures and the RBPP Platform, no drugs, no alcohol but a upright disciplined brother.
Except that he was drunk and shot at cops, so maybe he wasn’t all that clean and disciplined. Neighbors in the apartment complex described him as an asshole that was always blasting his music and causing a ruckus.
Dr. Alli Muhammad, founder of the Revolutionary Black Panther Party, said he and 20 party members are going to Brown’s funeral on Friday to get to the bottom of things.
“We really believe that this is politically motivated. We honestly see this as the first time since the 1960s or 70s that a Black Panther leader was killed by police,” said Muhammad.
Amazingly enough, there is very little politics involved when a person opens fire on law enforcement officers. Unless you count stupidity as politics, which if you are a democrat you probably do.
This is so not an “egregious miscarriage of justice” that even Al Sharpton wouldn’t touch it with a ten-foot race-hustling pole. Hey, guess what? You shoot at cops and they shoot back.
