Trump Sees Danger For GOP In New Court-Imposed District Maps

Always have to ask; How far will they go to cheat to win?

President Donald Trump renewed his call for the U.S. Supreme Court’s intervention after Pennsylvania’s highest judicial tribunal redrew the state’s congressional district map, creating four new districts, which Democrats are favored to win.
The president suggested the Pennsylvania court’s decision was politically motivated and urged the justices to reinstate the old map.
The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania found the district lines the GOP-controlled legislature produced after the 2010 census were intentionally drawn to favor Republicans in violation of the state constitution. Under the GOP map, Republican incumbents held 13 of the state’s 18 congressional seats, while Democrats held five. Projections suggest both parties will win nine seats under the new map.
Elected Democratic judges command a five-to-two majority on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and the bench has divided along partisan contours throughout its proceedings.
State Republican leaders previously asked the Supreme Court to overturn the decision, but the justices declined to get involved. The Pennsylvania court rooted most of its decision in the state constitution, and federal courts generally give state courts the last word in interpreting state charters.
