Democrats Push Bill to Force Schools to Let Male Athletes to Compete As Females

A new bill is being pushed by Democrats that will force schools to allow born-male transgender athletes, who identify as female, to compete against born-female girls in female sports events.

The bill was co-sponsored by 234 Democrats and two Republicans and will make it a legal requirement for schools to let athletes specify the gender that they will compete as.

The Dems’ Equality Act would amend the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that makes “sexual orientation and gender identity” protected characteristics under federal anti-discrimination law.

The bill would also force public schools to expand female athletic teams to include biological males who identify as transgender girls. In written testimony submitted to a House subcommittee on Tuesday, the director of the left-wing Human Rights Campaign, Sarah Warbelow, praised the bill’s impact on high school sports.

“Opponents of equality in athletics for transgender athletes have argued that girls who are transgender have unfair physiological advantages over cisgender girls and as a result, will dominate women’s competitive sports,” Warbelow wrote, calling it not “rooted in fact” that biologically male athletes will outperform their female counterparts.
