The lack of all civility among many leftists is palpable during the ongoing debate over ObamaCare. While there are certainly vocal advocates on both sides of the issue, Democrats continue to push the envelope into utterly unacceptable territory.
As evidenced in a series of social media posts by Sacramento, Calif. Democrat Party Communications Chair Allan Brauer, the vitriol now extends to the most innocent among us. Responding to a Twitter post by an aide to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Brauer said he hopes she sees her children die miserably.
Amanda Carpenter posted some of the positive recent developments among conservatives in Congress, including a vote to defund the monumentally despised ObamaCare law. In a rhetorical escalation of monumental proportions, Brauer responded: “May your children all die from debilitating, painful and incurable diseases.”
His hyperbolic rant was far from over, though, as he commented on the negative responses his initial post garnered.
“Busy blocking the tapeworms that have slithered out of hellspawn @amandacarpenter’s ***hole,” he tweeted ten minutes later. “How’s your day so far?”
For good measure, he took one more jab at those who dared call him out on his reprehensible comment.
“I’m being attacked on Twitter for wishing one of Ted Cruz’s pubic lice to experience the pain her boss is inflicting on Americans,” read his next post.
Democrats are so used to having carte blanche to spew whatever hate speech they wish, it seems to come as a complete surprise when they are actually criticized for it. Apparently, the backlash was so severe that Brauer felt the need to issue an apology.
About an hour and a half after he first wished death upon her children, he posted the following: “Hi @amandacarpenter I am truly sorry for my tweet. I was very upset and lashed out. Your kids are not fair game either. My apologies.”
A spokesperson for the California Democratic Party, in a response to the controversial tweets, used the opportunity to once again trash Cruz’s policies.
Tenoch Flores said Brauer’s comment was unacceptable because it “lets fringe characters” like Cruz “off the hook.”
The fact remains that, particularly in Texas, ObamaCare is widely despised. Cruz’s mission to defund the law is merely him representing the will of his constituents.
For a Democrat official to issue such a hate-filled diatribe in response to a legislator doing his job suggests the left might just be more unhinged than conservatives even imagined. Obama’s policies, both domestic and foreign, are only becoming less popular as time progresses, prompting greater desperation among his loyal followers.
