The Saudi royal family are building a 600 mile long and six mile deep “Great Wall” to keep marauding ISIS extremists away from the treasured holy mosques at Medina and Mecca. The capture of these Islamic monuments is feared to be an objective of ISIS.
An ISIS’ dream objective would be to overthrow the Saudi government, which it believes to be corrupted by western decadence and an embarrassment to their hardline Islamic ideology.
The Saudi response is a 600 mile long, multi-layered barrier six miles deep that would include a ditch, two fences, a patrol road that would connect 32 rapid-response centers and 8 command centers and 78 monitoring watchtowers with thermal imagers and battlefield radar systems that could detect an individual up to 12 miles away and a vehicle up to 24 miles away.
The barrier would eventually cover the Saudi-Iraq border from Jordan to Kuwait, according to Janes.com, a defense industry publication.
Saudi forces have assisted U.S. led air strikes against ISIS in Syria.
