The Senate unanimously affirmed that “the press is not the enemy of the people” with a non-binding resolution spearheaded by Democratic Hawaii Sen. Brian Schatz and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer Thursday.
“We can’t let statements by the president declaring that the press is the enemy of the people go unchallenged,” Schatz said while introducing the resolution on the Senate floor Thursday, according to The Weekly Standard.
The three-and-a-half page resolution stated that “the Senate affirms that the press is not the enemy of the people.”

The Senate “reaffirms the vital and indispensable role that the free press serves to inform the electorate, uncover the truth, act as a check on the inherent power of government, further national discourse and debate,” the resolution continued.
More than 300 newspapers around the country published opinion articles decrying what they see as President Donald Trump’s attacks on the news media Thursday as well, reported CNN.

There is nothing that I would want more for our Country than true FREEDOM OF THE PRESS.
