When is it right for the Filthy Stinking Anti American Snakeshit to trash Talk a President at a visitation? On there side I guess that's normal
Meghan McCain, while giving a eulogy at her father’s funeral on Saturday, took the opportunity to take pot-shots at President Trump.
Meghan, who was honoring her late father Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), used her eulogy as a thinly-veiled way to criticize Trump and his “cheap rhetoric” while boasting about her father’s life.
“The real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly, nor the opportunistic appropriation of those who lived lives of comfort and privilege,” Meghan told a packed audience at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, DC, Saturday.
Meghan, who co-hosts ABC’s The View, also mocked Trump’s signature slogan “Make America Great Again,” saying that “America was always great.”
“America does not boast because she does not have need to. The America of John McCain has no need to be made great again, because America was always great,” Meghan added, with many in the church applauding her statement.
“The America of John McCain is the America of the boys who rushed the colors in every war across three centuries knowing that in them is the life of the republic.”
Even though Meghan took the opportunity to criticize Trump during McCain’s funeral, Trump was not present at the funeral. Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) reportedly requestedbefore he died that Trump not be invited to the funeral.
McCain’s family also refused to invite former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Arizona senator’s running mate in the 2008 presidential election. Palin did not receive an invitation, and intermediaries reportedly told her to keep away from the funeral.
Unlike Trump, Palin never criticized or feuded with McCain.
The late Arizona senator, who died of brain cancer at 81, had a strained relationship with Trump due to his disagreements with the president over many of his policies. The two often feuded during the 2016 presidential election cycle.
Three former presidents—Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton—many members of Congress, world leaders, and McCain’s family and friends gathered at the funeral in northwest Washington, DC, on Saturday. Obama and Bush had also been scheduled to speak at the funeral.
McCain is set to be buried Sunday at the U.S. Naval Academy Cemetery in Annapolis, Maryland, next to his longtime Naval Academy friend Chuck Larson.

TRUMP CRITICS USE JOHN MCCAIN’S FUNERAL TO CRITICIZE THE PRESIDENT — HERE’S WHAT THEY SAID
Several speakers threw in jabs at President Trump during Saturday’s funeral service for the late Senator John McCain.
“The America of John McCain has no need to be made great again because America was always great,” said Meghan McCain, referencing Trump’s presidential campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.”
McCain also called American greatness, “The real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly, nor the opportunistic appropriation of those who lived lives of comfort and privilege while he suffered and served.”
Former President Obama also took a few shots at the president without naming any names. (RELATED: Obama Delivers Challenge In McCain Eulogy: Be Bigger Than Politics ‘Born Of Fear’)
“John McCain understood that if we get in the habit of bending the truth to suit political expediency, or party orthodoxy, our democracy will not work,” he said.
Former President George Bush also delivered what some considered to be a few Trump digs.
“Above all, John detested the abuse of power,” said Bush. “He could not abide bigots and swaggering despots.”
“He respected the dignity inherent in every life, a dignity that does not stop at borders and cannot be erased by dictators,” he continued. “John’s voice will always come as a whisper over our shoulder: ‘We’re better than this, America is better than this.'”
Some conservatives noticed the trend and pointing it out via Twitter:
Liberals and Trump’s critics, on the other hand, saw the funeral as a perfect opportunity to criticize the sitting president. So much so that Wall Street Journal correspondent David Wessell saw the funeral “shaping up as the Washington Establishment’s response to Trump” and wondered if it would “have a lasting impact.”
Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol, a frequent Trump critic, was quick to weigh in.
Politico editor-in-chief Blake Hounshell praised Meghan McCain’s rebuke of President Trump as “extraordinary.”
Others pointed out the fact that Trump was actually doing something else, even though he was clearly not invited to the funeral.
