New York Magazine writer lies about Georgia virus numbers

Kurt Andersen, an editor of New York Magazine, is salivating for Georgia's economic reopening to fail — so much so that this pathetic "journalist" can't do basic arithmetic amid his mental frenzy.  (Come on, Kurt. You can count on your fingers if you have to.  No one will laugh.)

On Sunday, Andersen tweeted the following:

Fulton County (Atlanta) had 1,232 new confirmed covid-19 cases yesterday, the second most ever. That’s a per capita rate 5 times New York City’s. https://t.co/6d0PoAHjja

Well, that would be bad — except it's not true, as Justin Gray, from Georgia-based WSB television and radio, pointed out:

This guy has more than 2,000 retweets & growing with wildly inaccurate & false information. needs to issue a correction & delete the tweet & stop spreading misinformation. I’m no math major but if the city of Atlanta had a total of 1271 cases on 4/29 and 1314 on 5/1 that means over 2 days the total number of new cases in Atlanta was 43. The overall numbers in Fulton are roughly double that – but that’s 1/10th of what that guy is claiming

Despite Andersen's major mathematical error that disseminated inaccurate information, his tweet has been retweeted thousands of times.  And despite Twitter's double-standard-totalitarian-rules regarding the spread of "misinformation," Andersen's tweet was not removed, nor was he banned, a practice that seems reserved for conservatives.

Andersen must have been using Common Core math.  Poor guy.  It must be rough trying to balance his checkbook.
