Fox News confirmed, Wednesday, that “3 Dozen former Obama administration officials” have been subpoenaed for testimony in the Russia probe, confirmed by Chairman Sen. Ron Johnson for the Senate Homeland Security Committee.
The move was authorized by a vote of 8-6, so the left leaning media will attempt to discredit the seriousness of this move.
Left leaning The Hill wrote,”The 8-6 vote along party lines authorizes Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), the chairman of the committee, to issue a combination of subpoenas and set up closed-door depositions with approximately 40 individuals.
The vote comes less than two months before the November elections, injecting fresh acrimony into the Wednesday committee meeting where Johnson accused Democrats of a “coordinated smear” against his probes. Sen. Gary Peters (Mich.), the top Democrat on the panel, accused Republicans of a “partisan fishing expedition.”
The Senate Homeland Security has authorized subpoenas for John Brennan, James Clapper James Comey, Denis McDonough, Lisa Page, Joe Pientka, Samantha Power, Bill Priestap, Susan Rice, Peter Strzok, and Kevin Clinesmith, and others.
The list includes longtime US intelligence operative Stephen Halper, who the Obama administration paid nearly half-a-million dollars to help the FBI spy on the 2016 Trump campaign.
The committee authorized Johnson to issue notices for taking depositions, subpoenas, records requests, and testimony related to the “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation – along with the DOJ Inspector General’s review of said investigation, as well as the “unmasking” of individuals connected to the Trump campaign, transition team, and administration, according to Fox News.
As part of the authorization, Johnson may subpoena “the production of all records” related to the FBI’s initial Russia probe, as well as unmasking requests for “James Baker, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, DOJ official Bruce Ohr, FBI case agent Steven Somma, former U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Teftt, former deputy assistant attorney general Tashina Gauhar.”
The committee also authorized subpoenas for Sidney Blumenthal, former Obama chief of staff Denis McDonough, former FBI counsel Lisa Page, former FBI agent Joe Pientka, former ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power, former FBI director of counterintelligence Bill Priestap, former White House national security adviser Susan Rice, former FBI agent Peter Strzok, former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith – who pleaded guilty to making a false statement in the first criminal case arising from U.S. Attorney John Durham’s review of the investigation into links between Russia and the 2016 Trump campaign – among others.
“Ron Johnson has subpoenaed members of the FBI, including director Christopher Wrey and wants all the documents on Crossfire Hurricane, and also wants GSA document during the transition into Trump administration, asking for who was turning in the documents, so they are looking at the Muller investigation,” said
WATCH:
Townhall reported,”Officials involved in the 2016 investigation into the Trump campaign. That investigation was officially named “Crossfire Hurricane” by disgraced and fired FBI agent Peter Strzok.
With subpoenas approved, Johnson has the ability to move forward with testimony, which can occur during a public hearing or behind closed doors. Given the limited time before the 2020 presidential election, it is still unclear when those approved for subpoena would testify.
Meanwhile, U.S. Attorney John Durham continues his criminal investigation into the origins of the FBI’s Russia probe. Whether additional indictments will be issued as a result of his findings is still unclear and Attorney General Bill Barr has asked for patience. “
The vote is the latest sign that Johnson is preparing to ramp up his probe into the Obama administration, including the FBI’s investigation into alleged Russia’s 2016 election meddling, even as he is expected to release an interim report on his Biden probe as soon as next week.
