Senate Passes “Anti-Asian Hate Crime” Legislation Related to Covid-19 – Here is Why It’s Total Garbage

The Senate on Thursday passed legislation targeting “anti-Asian hate crimes” after a so-called surge of attacks during Covid-19.

Most violent attacks against Asians are by blacks and have nothing to do with Covid-19, but the Democrats have blamed Trump and Trump supporters for the attacks against Asians anyway.

The Senate approved the bill in a 94-1 vote; Hawley (MO) was the only Senator to oppose the bill.

The bill, which was introduced by Mazie Hirono, a radical left-wing senator from Hawaii, would allow the DOJ to expedite review of “hate crimes” related to Covid-19 and create ways to report the incidents online.

The bill will also direct the Attorney General and the Department of Health and Human Services to “issue best-practices guidance on how to mitigate racially discriminatory language in describing the pandemic,” NBC reported.

In other words, the US government will move to criminalize speech and punish Americans for saying “Wuhan virus” or “China Coronavirus.”

Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX) blasted Senate Republicans for supporting the garbage bill and broke down just how dangerous the legislation really is.

“The term ‘COVID–19 hate crime’ means a crime of violence (as such term is defined in section 16 of 18, United States Code) that is motivated by— (A) the actual or perceived race, ethnicity, age, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or disability of any person; and (B) the actual or perceived relationship to the spread of COVID–19 of any person because of the characteristic described in subparagraph (A).” AND… later… “(b) Guidance Relating To COVID–19 Pandemic.—The Attorney General and the Secretary of Health and Human Services, in coordination with the COVID–19 Health Equity Task Force and community-based organizations, shall issue guidance describing best practices to mitigate racially discriminatory language in describing the COVID–19 pandemic.”

The House Judiciary Committee introduced a similar version of this bill this week.

Pelosi said the bill would receive a floor vote.

Both chambers will have to eventually pass the same bill so it can head over to Biden’s desk for a signature.
