From Gavin Newsom to Ilhan Omar, the Democrats of today are very good at what they do.
President Ronald Reagan was classically known for telling it like it is. Concerning the Democrat party, Reagan stated, they’re “tax-and-spend,” because Reagan-era Democrats were known for “fixing” things by taxing people more and spending even more, instead of evaluating how the money is being spent and trying to make logical reductions in spending.
The Democrats with which President Trump must contend are entirely different from the Reagan-era Democrats. Reagan-era Democrats look more like conservatives compared to the bulk of the current Democrat party. For example, Boston’s Democrat mayor, Michelle Wu, has been pushing tax-funded “wellness” grants, specifically for “queer illegal aliens,” ranging from $250 to $500 per migrant. These grants are being distributed by an NGO activist group named OUTnewcomers. Research has shown that the grants are to be used for things like gym memberships, yoga, meditation, reflection activities, transportation, and childcare support. Democrat Wu is pushing this “queer illegal alien” taxpayer money giveaway while facing a $100 million budget deficit, forcing a layoff of teachers.
Then we have Democrat-run states like Massachusetts, where $1 billion dollars in fraudulent food stamps (SNAP) payments were paid out between 2022 and 2024, with 75% of payments going to able-bodied recipients who refuse to look for work. Paul Diego Craney, Executive Director of the Fiscal Alliance Foundation, stated,
More than a billion dollars in improper SNAP payments in just two years is not a rounding error, it is a complete failure or oversight. Taxpayers are being asked to fund a system where fraud is ignored, safeguards are weakened, and accountability is treated as optional.
Policy analyst Hayden Dublois found that Democrat-run Massachusetts carries a fraud SNAP rate so high that the current trajectory is unsustainable and that “Massachusetts’ welfare programs are on a collision course with reality.” Recently, the USDA disqualified 1,562 SNAP retailers, preventing an additional $835 million in fraud. These SNAP retailers were exchanging SNAP benefits for cash.
Of course, 186 House Democrats voted against deporting people who commit welfare fraud. Now, why would that be the case? Maybe we should ask Rep. Ilhan Omar, who recently, supposedly, went from rags to riches and then from riches to rags. While filling out her congressional financial disclosure, Omar listed her assets as high as $30 million. Then, after drawing scrutiny from Republicans and a congressional watchdog, she amended her and her husband’s assets to between $18,004 and $95,000, which was a sharp drop from the original listing of between $6 million and $30 million. “Omar’s attorney said in a letter to the watchdog that the inaccurate filing was unintentional and stemmed from a reliance upon accountants.”
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky, suggested that perhaps Omar’s accountants may have gotten their degrees from the Somali-run fraudulent “Quality Learing Center.”
It’s odd that Omar reported between $102,503 and $1,005,200 in income in 2024 from assets owned by her and her husband. In 2025, an email between Omar’s husband and his accountant valued Omar’s venture capital firm at $7.9 million and Omar’s winery at $1.5 million, with her husband owning about 1/3 of each. Rep. James Comer stated that financial disclosures of the values of the two companies show they surged from tens of thousands of dollars in 2023 to as much as $30 million in 2024, which “raises concerns that unknown individuals may be investing to gain influence.” President Trump suggested that Omar benefited from Minnesota’s sprawling welfare fraud scandal, which involved many people of the Somali community.
Speaking of the scandal in Minnesota, Democrat Governor Tim Walz is accused of being complacent to the alleged $9 billion fraud, and Rep. Comer “claims whistleblowers warned Walz for years…and were told to ‘stand down’.” In fact, Minnesota Democrats even allegedly let tax dollars fund terrorists, as the police were left without money to protect the people. While Democrat Walz accused President Trump of cutting programs that could help Minnesota, President Trump responded that he is terminating the protective status for Somalis in Minnesota due to “fraudulent money laundering activity” and further stated, “It’s OVER!” The fraud in Minnesota has led Democrat Gov. Tim Walz to abandon his re-election bid. Does this mean Walz is guilty of fraud? The answer is “not conclusively,” but if you aren’t guilty, why would you drop out? When Democrats lied about Donald Trump, Trump didn’t drop out.
Which leads us to another Democrat dropout, former Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-CA, who dropped out of his bid for governor of California and resigned from the House of Representatives amidst numerous accusations of him abusing, assaulting, harassing, and preying upon women, even drugging them. Swalwell lost support from friends, House Democrat leaders, the California Teachers Association, House censured Sen. Adam Schiff, D-CA, and even insider trader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). Democrats fled Swalwell like rats fleeing a sinking ship. Apparently, on Swalwell’s escapades, he broke the rules and illegally spent over $75,000 from his congressional campaign on things like hotels, food, alcohol, and babysitters. Of course, compared to the rest of these stealing Democrats, Swalwell is small fry, but he is fried, nonetheless. Maybe he will have more time in the pool for basketball.
Then we have Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, D-FL, being indicted by a Miami federal grand jury for receiving “an overpayment of $5 million in FEMA funds” in July 2021. She allegedly routed the money through multiple accounts to disguise its source. Part of the money was “used as candidate contributions” to Cherfilus-McCormick’s 2021 congressional campaign. Taxpayers didn’t intend their FEMA money to be spent in this fashion. She has announced she is resigning from the House of Representatives, facing a 15-count federal criminal indictment with a maximum sentence of 53 years. Let’s hope she looks good in an orange jumpsuit.
McCormick’s choice of how to spend taxpayer money does bring into question all the money recklessly sent to Ukraine under the Biden administration, where President Zelensky’s Ukrainian adviser stated, “People are stealing like there is no tomorrow,” and Biden-Harris approval poll numbers “being the lowest on record for a U.S. president in the last 15 years,” but yet Biden-Harris had the largest re-election war chest of any Democrat candidate in history. Interesting math?
Not to be left out, we have Governor Gavin Newsom of California, who just celebrated the 20th anniversary of his 10-year plan to eliminate homelessness in California, spending $20 billion, yet still having half the number of unsheltered people in the entire country. Then we have Gavin’s taxpayer-funded destruction of hydroelectric power, causing ecological disasters, which are being cleaned up with taxpayer money. Next, we have Newsom’s 2008, $33 billion project for a high-speed train presented to taxpayers, which now costs $126 billion due to “waste and mismanagement” and in 16 years, has not laid a single rail. Amazing.
So, Trump-era Democrats aren’t “tax-and-spend,” but instead they’re “tax-and-steal.” Do you think Democrat politicians are fighting so hard for power, combating everything that President Trump tries to do, for the sole purpose of regaining power, so that they can continue to steal from the American taxpayer? Hmmm….
