The Department of Justice indicted Dr. David M. Morens, longtime senior advisor to Anthony Fauci at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), on felony charges on Tuesday, including conspiracy against the United States; destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in federal investigations; concealment, removal, or mutilation of records; and aiding and abetting.
Morens, 78, allegedly helped orchestrate a scheme to evade Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Department of Justice, Morens and his co-conspirators used his personal Gmail account to hide communications about restoring NIH funding to EcoHealth Alliance’s controversial bat coronavirus grant, the same grant tied to the Wuhan Institute of Virology that was terminated over lab-leak concerns.
They also worked to push the “natural origins” narrative and suppress alternative theories.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche called it “a profound abuse of trust” at the height of the pandemic.
FBI Director Kash Patel vowed the FBI “will not stop until you face justice.”
The taxpayer watchdog group White Coat Waste Project (WCW), which first exposed NIH’s gain-of-function funding in Wuhan and the infamous “Beaglegate” dog experiments, applauded the indictment but warned that Morens was not acting alone.
The organization also has the evidence to back it up.
In a blistering statement provided to The Gateway Pundit, WCW Senior Vice President Justin Goodman said:

But Morens wasn’t a lone wolf, and other lab leak cover-up lackeys are still in government raking in taxpayer-funded salaries.
White Coat Waste uncovered evidence that other Fauci-era officials still at the NIH conspired with EcoHealth Alliance to violate a federal ban on gain-of-function and fund the dangerous animal tests in Wuhan that probably caused COVID. RFK Jr.’s NIH has also promoted Morens collaborator and gain-of-function cheerleader Jeffery Taubenberger to replace Fauci—even though he tried to reinstate the disastrous NIH grant that funded the Wuhan lab after WCW exposed it and President Trump cut it and he co-authored propaganda with Morens stating that a lab leak was ‘thoroughly discredited.’ We’ve been saying for over a year that the Trump administration needs to clean house at NIH to remove Fauci’s fingerprints.
White Coat Waste has also obtained key evidence showing that Fauci evaded FOIA by using his personal Gmail to talk about Beaglegate with the Washington Post and that he repeatedly misled Congress by claiming he didn’t fund gain-of-function in Wuhan. Those are serious crimes that could carry hefty fines and jail time if Fauci’s pardon is voided.
Morens’ indictment should be the beginning—not the end—of long-overdue lab leak accountability at NIH.”
