The Context When questioned on ABC News about an ad with women saying his own quotes, Donald Trump said he’d seen it and it was a “Mitt Romney deal.” A few minutes later, he was asked the same question with NBC News and he said “I haven’t seen it so I’d have to take a look.” Someone at NBC had been monitoring his interview with ABC and played the two comments back to back. Listen to the audio proof below.
What’s One More Lie? This is just another in a long line of contradictions and lies from Trump, but does it matter? Do people care? And is the truth even important to Donald Trump? Glenn shared another story to highlight just how irrelevant the truth is to the GOP frontrunner. “Now, let me tell you a story about Donald Trump,” Glenn said on his radio program Friday. “It was about his butler at Mar-a-Lago, okay? The butler was just, ‘Oh, he was just fantastic.’ But we learned a couple of things. One of them was really important.” The butler explained how Trump used to give tours at Mar-a-Lago, a former national historic site given to the state of Florida. During the tour, Trump would point out some “yuge” tiles he told tourists were hand-painted by Walt Disney himself. After everybody left, the butler came up to Trump and said, “Just so you know, that’s not true.” And Trump looked at the butler and said, “What difference does it make?” “So it doesn’t — the truth doesn’t matter to him,” Glenn said. We’ve Created a Monster We aren’t all innocent in this either. A liar will lie as long as they can get away with it, and Trump has gotten away with it for decades. “We have taught Donald Trump he can lie about anything, and what difference does it make?” Glenn said. The scary thing is it’s spreading to his supporters, the truth is no longer paramount and in fact is becoming irrelevant. “Even if they correct him, I can guarantee you, nobody cares. They’re all — all of his supporters will all just say, ‘What difference does it make?’ Glenn said. Common Sense Bottom Line To answer NBC News, this should matter, but it doesn’t. For Donald Trump, there is no such thing as an ‘inconvenient truth.’ It’s not even a speed bump. The truth is whatever he wants it to be and this attitude has spread to his supporters. “I say it’s not. Because Donald Trump in the deal with the bathroom, the Disney tiles, who is going to correct him?” Glenn said.
