Polar bears are fatter and healthier than ever, and climate changers scramble to explain it

Leftists will do everything but face science and reality.

There’s a funny meme format that goes around, showing obese women participating in all sorts of bizarre exercises—maybe they’re bouncing around in some springed “Kangoo” shoes, or maybe they’re strapped in a bungee harness and swinging around from the ceiling. Accompanying these memes is always some version of a caption that reads how fat women will do anything and everything except the obvious and easiest remedy, or the path of least resistance, which is diet and simple exercise; achieving their objective, that is, weight loss and fitness, is so much easier than they’re making it.

It occurred to me that a similar dynamic is present elsewhere: Leftists will also do anything and everything…but accept science and reality, which again, is the “obvious remedy” for the issues they’re (ostensibly) attempting to solve, or the path of least resistance to knowledge and understanding. How can you process and handle real world situations if you’re rejecting information from the real world? Answer: You can’t. (A painful reality we thinkers are routinely forced to endure with each and every enacted progressive policy.)

I had the thought when I came across a recent CNN article that explained how polar bears in Norway’s Arctic “are getting fatter and healthier” than ever, in a “region [that] has lost sea-ice habitat more than twice as fast as any other area where polar bears live.” (Ergo, the skinnier and less healthy bears are in the places where ice hasn’t melted as fast.)

Of course, climate changers are scrambling to explain, saying that polar bears “have so far been able to compensate” for the change in habitat, intimating that at some point, they won’t be able to, herein ignoring science and reality...those silly little notions that we conservatives have been advocating for all along.

‘The most likely explanation is that polar bears in Svalbard have so far been able to compensate for reduced access to sea ice by exploiting alternative foraging opportunities and by showing considerable ecological flexibility,’ lead study author Jon Aars, a population geneticist and a senior researcher at the Norwegian Polar Institute, told CNN on Friday.

‘In this region, bears have access (to) reindeer and eggs on land, walrus carcasses, and also harbour seals,’ he continued.

An increasing number of bears had previously been observed spending more time on land during the summer, plundering birds’ nests in west Svalbard, and data had shown more adult females in east Svalbard spending more time in areas with bird colonies.

It doesn’t even take a fancy team of researchers or taxpayer-funded inquiries to see the obvious: When ice doesn’t cover everything, plants spring to life, and when plants spring to life, herbivorous populations surge, creating more food for carnivorous animals.

Duh.

Warmer temperatures almost always mean more life (with the rare exception of the few hyper-arid extreme heat deserts around the world), as evidenced throughout history. But, that’s all irrelevant, because $cientists are afoot!

Will Aars accept that perhaps sea ice melts and re-forms, melts and re-forms—again, as evidenced throughout history—and the creatures there adapt to the changes? (I would assume Aars is a believer in Darwinism.) Will he finally concede that maybe, just maybe, CO2 isn’t actually a poisonous gas, but a crucial component in ecosystems around the world? Or, will he continue to reject the evidence of his eyes and ears, i.e. science and reality, instead going to great lengths to favor the commands of the greenie left?
