Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and FBI Director Kash Patel said Friday that federal agents served 17 search warrants across the Minneapolis area this week, resulting in four arrests tied to a 26-count indictment alleging large-scale Medicaid and social-services fraud.
Western Journal The warrants targeted child care centers, health care providers, and the residences of some of the owners. Prosecutors said the defendants tried to siphon more than $41 million from programs allegedly meant to help vulnerable people, from which they were able to steal roughly $21.65 million.
Patel identified the four Somali Muslims charged:
- Feisal Elmi of Aspen Associates faces 11 counts of health care fraud and an alleged intended loss of about $8 million.
- Jama Mohamod of American Home Health Care faces six counts of health care fraud, with a $3.27 million intended loss.
- Faiza Ahmed of Home Sweet Home faces eight counts of health care fraud with a $10 million intended loss.
- Habiba Mohamed of Smart Therapy faces one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States linked to nearly $20 million in “intended fraud and loss.”
Officials also pointed to findings by FinCEN, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, of more than $8 billion in suspicious foreign-directed wire transfers moving through U.S. money-services businesses between 2021 and 2025. They said money intended for people who needed care instead ended up in private pockets or left the country.
This comes after the owner of Somali-Run Organization tied to Somali Congressmuslim ‘Ilhan Omar’ was sentenced to 30 years over the ‘Feeding Our Future’ fraud scheme in which Salim Said falsely claimed to have served 91 million meals, for which he and his partner fraudulently received nearly $250 million in federal funds.

Western Journal Salim Said, a 37-year-old Somali man who operated the Safari Restaurant in Minneapolis, was convicted by a federal jury in March 2025 of using the Feeding Our Future nonprofit to line his own pockets with federal money.
“Said was convicted on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, four counts of wire fraud, one count of conspiracy to commit federal programs bribery, eight counts of bribery, one count conspiracy to commit money laundering and five counts of money laundering,” the Department of Justice reported at the time.
Feeding Our Future was founded by fellow fraudster Aimee Bock, who was also convicted in March 2025 for lining her pocket with ill-gotten federal money. But it was, after all, Ilhan Omar who introduced the bill, leading to the 250 million dollars in welfare fraud. Why hasn’t she been investigated for this?

After Said’s sentencing, the Republican-led House Oversight Committee released a statement linking him to Rep. Omar, who reportedly celebrated her 2018 primary victory at his restaurant.
“Feeding Our Future ringleader Salim Said got 30 years in prison,” the committee said in a social media post. “His Safari Restaurant was one of the largest sites defrauding the program. “Using fake meal counts, doctored attendance records, and fabricated invoices, Prosecutors say the money bought a million-dollar home in Plymouth, a Park Avenue mansion in Minneapolis, a building in Ohio and luxury vehicles.
