In the wake of the Paris attacks and amidst ramped-up threats from ISIS worldwide, we’ve heard strong statements from the likes of France President Francois Hollande and Russian President Vladimir Putin. They’ve declared war on ISIS, with Hollande promising it will be “pitiless,” while Putin vowed to hunt ISIS “everywhere, wherever they’re hiding. We’ll find them anywhere in the world and we’ll punish them” so they “understand retribution is inescapable.”
We’ve been waiting for President Obama to make a similarly strong statement about ISIS in the wake of the Paris attacks and direct threats to our own homeland. Well, today, President Obama finally declared what he believes will be a ‘powerful rebuke’ to ISIS.
As Breitbart reports:
President Obama calls the upcoming climate summit with world leaders in Paris a “powerful rebuke” to Islamic State terrorists who attacked the city earlier this month.
“What a powerful rebuke to the terrorists it will be, when the world stands as one and shows that we will not be deterred from building a better future for our children,” Obama marveled, after previewing his attendance at the summit which begins next week in Paris.
Obama made his remarks during a press conference at the White House today with French President François Hollande. He urged Americans to come together and be united against the threat of terrorism worldwide.
“We cannot, and we will not succumb to fear,” he said. “Nor can we allow fear to divide us. For that’s how terrorists win.”
I’m sure ISIS is shaking in its boots about now. With laughter.
Sadly, folks, I guess this might be about as good as it’s gonna get from this president.
