The president's lawyers finally got the chance to present their case in defense of him on Saturday. They did not take much time, but their first few hours virtually destroyed the Schiff/Nadler/Pelosi fiction on which they have based their articles of impeachment. After a second, longer, and more intense day of the defense delivering their side of the story, what actually has transpired has become clearer and clearer.
The irrationally obsessed Schiff had a plan, as surely as the Crossfire Hurricane cabal had a plan, to take Trump down by hook or by crook. The Mueller Report failed to deliver, so he sought a new and fabricated reason to impeach.
Now that we see and hear Schiff's case be completely devastated by Trump's defense team, one has to wonder how the House managers had the gall to stand up and spew the lies each of them put forth over twenty-three hours. It is probably safe to assume that they did none of their own research, nor did they write their own presentations. Most likely, Schiff directed his own staff to prepare their carefully constructed speeches, which they came to the podium to read.

Had questions been asked of them about their arguments in favor of impeachment, it is doubtful they could have answered even one. Bottom line? These "managers" know far less about all that has taken place than the average American who has been paying attention. They live in an insulated bubble of Trump-hatred and are constitutional illiterates.
Had they — Lofgren, Jeffries, Garcia, and Demings — been paying attention during the secret hearings in the bunker, they might have realized how much the arguments they were directed to deliver were taken out of context, how much of the clear exoneration of the president was omitted from Schiff's "case" against him. Those four were and remain in the dark! They were given scripts; they got up and uttered the words but had no idea how truly disingenuous they were.
Schiff and Nadler knew; they orchestrated the whole show in the belief that we Americans are so dumb that we could never see through their Kafkaesque plan to destroy a president simply because they refuse to accept his electoral victory. So arrogant are they that it never occurred to them that the president's lawyers might be, and in fact are, much, much smarter than they are. Each of them, Trump's lawyers, actually is a constitutional scholar.
Schiff, Nadler, and Pelosi are constitutional lightweights when it comes to impeachment law. For example, did Pelosi really think no one would notice that she had never called for a vote in the full House before ordering her "inquiry" invalidating all their subpoenas? Did these three people, each with some measure of power over all of us, really believe that no one would notice their many, many breaches of the Constitution and the law?
They denied the president any due process, any opportunity to defend himself, for seventy-one days! They heard the testimony of eighteen witnesses, carefully cherry-picked certain quotes, mostly out of context, to present the president in an unfavorable light.
They still have not released the transcript of Intel I.G. Michael Atkinson. Why? Most likely, it does not comport with Schiff's grand libretto of Trump illegality. We do know that Atkinson changed the government's whistleblower definitional form that required firsthand knowledge of the misdeed being reported. We know he knew likely whistle-blower Ciaramella and admitted that he was very biased against the president.
Atkinson facilitated the kick-starting of all this nonsense over a phone call but must have revealed something that Schiff wants no one to know. Perhaps it is that Schiff or his staff coordinated with and coached said whistleblower as part of his plan to see the president impeached.
Schiff is a man deranged by a psycho-maniacal obsession and bent on the destruction of President Trump, no matter the cost to the nation or the future of the office of the presidency.
The president's defense team is magnificent: plain-spoken, calm, and informative; no hysterics, no wild accusations, no tears. They have all the facts on their side. They have relied almost solely on the Democrats own witnesses' testimony: no quid pro quo, no demand for investigations into the Ukrainian interference in the 2016 election even though we know that is a fact, no denial of aid. All the witnesses agreed that Trump has strengthened the U.S.-Ukraine relationship. All of them. All of them testified that Trump never demanded any investigation in exchange for the aid.
So, as many observers of this bad play have noted, this has all been a carefully scripted show, and the participants on the side of impeachment are grossly ignorant of the relevant facts. It is truly shocking that Schiff ever thought he would get away with such a disgraceful scheme. He is not only suffering from some kind of mental illness, he has revealed his complete and utter contempt for the truth, the law and the Constitution.
Hats off to Patrick Cipollone, Patrick Philbin, Jay Sekulow, Mike Purpura, Jane Raskin, Alan Dershowitz, Ken Starr, Robert Ray, Pam Bondi and Eric Herschmann. They've got this! Schiff, Nadler and Pelosi and their fellow Democrats who from the moment Trump was elected vowed to see him impeached are angry, childish, intellectual lightweights compared to Trump and his team. It is likely that, after the third day of the defense presentation, any Democrats with a brain will be too embarrassed to vote for conviction.
As for John Bolton, no matter how big a deal the NYT and left media make of what they think might be in his book, it is meaningless with regard to the Democrats' crusade to see the President impeached. They, the left media, speak with one voice, same words, same phrases. "Bombshell" is the word of the day... again. It's as though they are all ventriloquist dummies. Someone sends them a list of words and they all dutifully repeat them ad nauseam. This will all soon be over. Schiff and his cohorts will have well and truly demeaned themselves for all time.
