Some astonishingly weak arguments indicating that sour grapes are on the menu among the donks.
Yoo hoo! Here comes the call of the wild:
A menagerie of Democrats have stepped forward to bray their objections to President Trump's yuuuuge oil deal with Venezuela's communist dictatorshie that that will more than double America's oil reserves, make America the king player of the world's energy, and lower the price of oil at home.
According to The Hill:
“Let’s be clear: this isn’t a win,” Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D) wrote in a social media post.
“This is proof Trump put our service members at risk to get Venezuelan oil for his billionaire buddies,” he continued. “Putting our soldiers’ lives on the line for private profit is a gross dereliction of his constitutional duty.”
Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), who serves on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, accused the president of using Maduro’s ouster to “control Venezuelan oil.”
“Will prices come down for Americans? Who knows but likely not as much as Trump has forced them up thru his idiotic Iran War,” Kaine wrote on the social platform X.
“But here’s a guarantee—this will pad the pockets of Trump family and Big Oil companies and delay transition to cleaner energy,” the Virginia Democrat continued. “Bottom line—Using our troops for a private oil grab is corruption at epic scale!”
Ahh, now we know what's going on: He's upset that more oil coming onto the market might just make his greenie schemes less attractive to Americans. You know, the same greenie schemes that made characters like the Solyndra bunch rich. Once again, Democrats accuse others of what they themselves are already doing.
There's also this goofus that The Hill missed:
So she's against getting rid of drug kingpins and shutting down those operations? Sounds like isn't aware of Venezuela's collapse into a narcostate, which happened when they ruined their own oil production. Trump's strike against drug dealers was followed by revival of the country's oil industry and both things are big pluses for Americans.
But that seems to be what upsets her. Can't have drug-free streets and cheap prices at the pump now, can we?
Beyond what the Hill reported, there also were these prominent Democrat influencers:
The old yanqui imperialismo trope, and that's a hoary one. Did they notice that the counterparty here was the communist government of Venezuela? We thought they liked communists.
Where is yout communist consciousness, comrades?
A potential Democrat cabinet member, put in his one cent, too:
He's always been one of the better Obamatons, so I won't insist this is a threat come the next administration, but oil major executives from companies such as Chevron and ConocoPhillips know very well what the risks and rewards are. They don't need CEO lessons in their own industry, about which McFaul knows nothing, schooling them.
Surely he knows this, so maybe it was a threat in a bid to chase off foreign investors and ensure that Trump's bid to lower gas prices and establish American energy dominance fail.
What a picture.
The funny thing here is that these arguments are all so weak, so bad, so laughable. All they reveal is that if Trump could cure cancer, they'd be against that, too.
What a a miserable party.
