While the current gun control legislation was stopped, it has not gone away. Recognizing defeat, Senator Reid voted against it with the condition that he maintains the right to call a re-vote at ANY time.
This first battle was fought by only 20% of the population. The extreme right fought against the extreme left and the strength of the voice of the right prevailed. But, 80% of the population was NOT involved.
This is about to change. In 2014, the mid-term elections will be held. 35 Senate seats will be up for election. 21 Democrats and 14 Republicans occupy these seats currently. 13 of these Republicans and 3 of these Democrats voted against the gun control legislation.
Obama’s private army and the media in his back pocket will now have a little over a year to convince the 80% of Americans that have not been involved, that Guns are the bane of the world and Senators who stopped the legislation are evil creatures. I may state that with some obvious sarcasm, but we have all seen how easily they sway the uninformed. They will spout lies, use biased polls, and stand on the graves of innocents to pull on the heartstrings of many. 16 of the Senators who voted against gun control will be their targets. All they need is to defeat 4 of these 16 during the midterm elections to have the 60 votes for Senator Reid to pull his trump card and call a revote in the Senate.
We do not have a privately funded army or the national media. The onus of responsibility for informing the 80% falls on the shoulders of EVERY Patriot. If you have been to my page, Partisanship Ends Here, you have seen the cover photo, which says, “The bane of every politician is a knowledgeable voter.” We must teach with Facts, not opinions.
You are free to use the facts that I have researched. This is not a popularity contest. You don’t have to like my page and you don’t have to share my images. But, you HAVE to get the facts in front of the 80%.
When the media tells people that a woman with a gun is more likely to get shot by a sexual assailant with a gun, we need the first thought that goes through the public’s mind to be “Wait. Only 3.4% of sexual assailants use a gun. The other 96.6% of the time a woman WOULD have a distinct advantage.”
When the media laments the total number of murders and declares ALL those innocent people killed, we need the first thought that goes through the public’s mind to be “Wait. It’s the 1.4 Million gangbangers and the Repeat Felons that are doing almost ALL of the killings. Why aren’t you going after them and trying to fix the judicial system?”
They cannot so easily cloud the minds of the informed.
We will LOSE this coming battle if we fight it as we have the first. We screamed and yelled and contacted the senators, but we did VERY little to inform the 80%. In the coming battle, the 80% will decide who sits in the senate seats and whether the gun control legislation will be brought back to life.
We shared statistics with each other, but only 1% shared the information on their personal pages. 1% will NOT inform the 80%. With 1% sharing, we will LOSE.
You don’t have to flood your timeline with every article, every interview, and every joke concerning gun rights, but you MUST share the Actual Statistics and you must BEG for your friends and family to SHARE them as well. I am amazed at how many people will pick up a gun and stand beside their brothers and sisters, yet are too embarrassed to share information on their personal pages.
The time has come. Each of us must take the roll of a teacher. Each of us must overcome our reservations and concerns about how we are seen by others. We have ONE YEAR. We cannot afford to waste even ONE DAY.
