During a recent TV interview on TVOne, a network with a predominantly black demographic, Michelle Obama did her best to emphasize the importance of blacks voting a straight democratic ticket, no matter what. “A Democratic ticket is the clear ticket that we should be voting on, regardless of who said what or did this. That shouldn’t even come into the equation,” Obama said. (H/T NewsMax)
So in other words, to members of the black community, my name is Michelle Obama and I know what’s best for you, so why try to think for yourselves?
Obama went on about voting in the black community, emphasizing that even though her husband wasn’t in the election, black voters should still get to the polls because, “that’s one of the things we have to continuously work on in our communities of new voters — folks who maybe voted for the first time because they voted for Barack Obama, young people who voted for the first time because they were inspired by this president.”
Was she preaching the good word out of the goodness of her heart? Of course not. She’s been tasked with attempting to round up as much of the black vote, even in her condescending manner, since polling experts around the country believe that without a big turnout of voters in the black community, democrats will most likely lose control of the Senate. Apparently the first lady was tasked with firing up what she believes is the only way democrats can retain the Senate.
Pollster Cornell Belcher, in a confidential memo obtained by the New York Times, said, “over half aren’t even sure when the midterm elections are taking place,” referring to black voters who came out in force during Obama’s election years of ’08 and ’12.
