Dying Piece By Piece

The upcoming Senate vote on the Pain Capable Act (Sept 22), along with other prolife legislation just passed in the House is vitally important, despite Obama’s vow to veto it.

Obama is finally willing to draw a red line, but it isn’t against murderous terrorists with chemical weapons. 

In fact, the full militant force of the Democrat Party, Planned Parenthood’s billion-dollar abortion industry, and its army of lawyers as well as the media have declared all-out war on one common enemy: the simple, visible humanity of the aborted child.

This humanity is undeniable the undercover Planned Parenthood videos released by the Center for Medical Progress, in the pieces of babies whose bodies are torn by an abortionist.

Lifesite News writer John Jalsevac describes one of these infant’s hands:

But there it is: that hand, in all of its beauty, and its horror. Beautiful, as every hand is beautiful. Horrific, in that it is attached to a dismembered arm, yanked out of its socket, and swimming in a pool of the baby’s intestines and other body parts, to be bartered over and sold. 

A Planned Parenthood official admits in one of the videos to an intentional lack of guidelines for harvesting organs from aborted babies for fear of media headlines and the ensuing PR nightmare.

But the media largely refused to report the details and context of the videos, defending Planned Parenthood in almost every case without seriously examining the undercover videotape or presenting the crucial questions it raises.

Ironically, the same media that dismissed the idea of infant cruelty by the abortion industry regularly and has historically demanded humane treatment for slaughtered animals, many times through use of undercover video.

The Washington Post exposed the horrific practices of the cattle slaughter industry in 2001 in an award winning, front-page article titled  “They Die Piece By Piece,” which relied heavily on undercover video. In the article, one worker described butchering cattle that were still alive:

‘They blink. They make noises,’ he said softly. ‘The head moves, the eyes are wide and looking around.’ Still Moreno would cut. On bad days, he says, dozens of animals reached his station clearly alive and conscious. Some would survive as far as the tail cutter, the belly ripper, the hide puller. ‘They die,’ said Moreno, ‘piece by piece.’

Despite the animal slaughter industry calling the videos an “appalling aberration,” and suggesting they were “staged,” the Post did its job reporting the details and substance of the video to an outraged public, who then demanded stricter regulation of the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act:

No method of slaughtering or handling in connection with slaughtering shall be deemed to comply with the public policy of the United States unless it is humane.
[A]ll animals are rendered insensible to pain by a single blow or gunshot or an electrical, chemical or other means that is rapid and effective, before being shackled, hoisted, thrown, cast, or cut.

All animals are rendered insensible to pain before being killed. What about infants dismembered in Planned Parenthood clinics? Not so much.

Testifying in a recent congressional hearing on behalf of Planned Parenthood, Yale Attorney Priscilla Smith listened to a quote from late term abortionist Leroy Carhart in which he stated he had “personally observed fetal heartbeat” on an ultrasound even after substantial portions of the baby had been dismembered in a D&E abortion: 

The fetus in many cases dies just as a human adult or child would die -- it bleeds to death.

Smith was asked, “do you believe this is a humane way to die?” to which she finally replied, “Yes, a D&E procedure is a very humane procedure.” 

In another video released by the Center for Medical Progress, a young StemExpress worker who was paid to harvest organs in Planned Parenthood’s clinics describes a supervisor asking her to cut into the face of just aborted infant whose “heart was still beating” in order to “procure” its brain:

She gave me the scissors and told me that I had to cut down the middle of the face. I can’t even describe what that feels like.

This worker goes on to describe her efforts to then place this baby in an overly full biohazard container:

I remember holding that fetus in my hands while everybody else was busy.  I started crying and then I opened the lid and put him back.  It’s just really hard knowing you’re the only person who is ever going to hold that baby.

What does the Washington Post say about these videos? They defend Planned Parenthood vehemently in almost every article, such as “Planned Parenthood Deserves to be Supported, Not Attacked,” and “Republicans should stop wasting time attacking Planned Parenthood,” where the writer dismisses the abortion details in the videos as “gruesome as is any medical procedure,” concluding:

The truth is, this video is nothing more than another one of those graphic abortion protest posters of mutilated fetuses waved at people and passing children on the street. Totally out of context and totally horrible.

Totally horrible, yes. But the context is this: the abortion industry is less regulated than than the slaughter industry described by the Post in 2001. 

If news journalists investigated further they might hit upon the very real tragedy that we have no humane slaughter law protecting infants like we do cattle, and that’s why the prolife bills the Washington Post calls “a waste of time” are so important.

The Born Alive Infants Protection Act (H.R. 2175) was written to provide protection and care for any baby born alive, including one surviving abortion, (whether deemed viable by the abortionist or not) but its power to invoke criminal or civil penalties were removed in order to avoid a veto by President Clinton.

Conservatives just passed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivor’s Protection Act (H.R. 3504) in the House, adding these penalties back into the law.

They also passed the Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2015 (H.R.3134), which temporarily funnels Planned Parenthood’s half a billion tax dollars to thousands of abortion-free women’s health centers while Planned Parenthood is investigated for criminal wrongdoing.

The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection (H.R.36) is up for a Senate vote this week, and unlike the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban it actually protects babies from painful dismemberment abortions after 20 weeks gestation, an age some can survive with neonatal care and which others receive anesthesia if undergoing surgery.

These are the pieces of proposed legislation Obama promises to veto because of the “chilling effect” they might have on Planned Parenthood’s abortion industry.

What would the public reaction be if Obama rejected the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act because of the “chilling effect” it might have on the cattle slaughter industry?

Obama expects the American taxpayer to believe that the abortion industry -- above all others -- can regulate itself. That the day in, day out factory line killing and processing of human infants never leads to objectification and abuse of human beings as it does slaughtered animals.

He asks us to trust abortionists to care for infants they fail to kill, hope that workers paid for efficient harvesting of “fresh” human organs will patiently make sure the fetus is dead first, and believe that never, ever does a penny of taxpayer money facilitate the 430 thousand abortions performed every year in Planned Parenthood clinics.

This grisly business needs no oversight, according to Obama and almost every single Congressional Democrat, and they will force taxpayer funding even if it means shutting down the government. 

History will long remember the first “red line” Obama actually stood firm on, but it will also remember those who stood in defense of precious inalienable rights to life and liberty that so many have fought and died for.

One thing is certain: the God-given humanity and beauty of an aborted child – even in pieces -- can’t be redefined by the Supreme Court, hidden by the abortion industry or destroyed by a veto.
