Mainstream media’s epiphany: Sen. Menendez’s FBI investigation is news

At the time, only Fox News and the Daily Caller were reporting the story. The Daily Caller slammed the lame-stream media for ignoring news of an FBI raid on the offices ofMenendez’s doctor friend in South Florida, asking:
If a doctor suspected of providing free trips and underage Dominican Republic prostitutes to a prominent ranking Democratic senator has his West Palm Beach, Fla. offices raided by the FBI, but it’s not picked up by ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC or CNN — did it really happen?
On Friday, the Washington Post finally picked up the story, reporting that the FBI is investigating allegations that Menendez hired prostitutes in the Dominican Republic. Two sources familiar with the case spoke to the Post about the investigation. According to the article:
One person said agents have asked about whether a Florida eye doctor — a close friend and major campaign donor to Menendez — provided the senator with prostitutes on vacations there. Another person said investigators are looking into allegations involving underage prostitutes and sex parties.
The sources told the Post no evidence of wrongdoing has yet been found. The article also explained that prostitution is legal in the Dominican Republic, but not with underage girls.
Menendez continues to deny the allegations, saying the entire story was fabricated by a “right-wing blog,” clearly referring to the Daily Caller.
“As we have said all along, Senator Menendez welcomes any review because his actions have been appropriate, and we believe the facts will confirm that,” a staff aide told ??(what publication??) on Friday.
An online search showed more media websites are picking up the story now that the Post is covering it.
