Never tried it but it sounded to good to be true

The poor and downtrodden, the very people socialists claim to champion, are leading Venezuela's march .. against socialism. Both the Washington Post andReuters see it as a turning point.
This would be the same socialism that has justified its lost freedoms, its expropriation of property, its redistribution of income and its tolerance of a government elite ... because it's to help the poor. The left defends this socialism, whether it's Michael Moore, or Oliver Stone or Naomi Campbell - all because of socialism's supposed good intention to help the poor.
Today, the poor are banging pots and throwing eggs at the hated regime. The Post notes in its piece on the new development, citing the man who brought Venezuela to its shambles, the late Hugo Chavez:
Chávez, a master showman who promised his country a socialist “revolution,” loved to wade through crowds of poor Venezuelans, blowing kisses and dispensing hugs. But when his successor has ventured out in public in recent months, he’s been pelted with eggs and chased by angry mobs.“Maduro is so different,” said Irene Castillo, 26, who lives in El Guarataro, a tough neighborhood not far from the presidential palace. She voted for Maduro in 2013 when Chávez died after 14 years in power. But no one on Castillo’s block supports the government anymore, she said. “Now, those who remain ‘chavistas’ are just the radicals.”
Like the lady said, all that are left now are 'just radicals.'
Her remark underlines that socialism has never been about helping the poor. Capitalism is what helps the poor, any Cato study can show this, or theexperience of Chile, which successfully transitioned from socialism to capitalism provides the proof of the pudding. A look at China since its economic reforms beginning in 1976 shows the reality, too. Socialism is about empowering an elite and taking over every single facet of the poor and powerless' lives, all in the name of 'helping them.'.
It's true that the poor and indigent have often voted for socialists in the name of free stuff. But it leads them to grief, destroying every chance possible of climbing out of poverty so long as socialism is in the saddle. Chavez brought socialism to Venezuela but he left the poor worse off than ever. At the same time, his own surviving family members remain billionaires (Chavez's daughter Maria Gabriela is Venezuela's richest woman), and his Castroite patrons over in Cuba, remain grotesque plutocrats.
As for the poor, they are left with just protest as their weapon and that comes at considerable risk and brutality. The Post reports:
But Venezuelans from longtime chavista strongholds are starting to join them, at considerable risk. Residents of Castillo’s neighborhood protested openly against Maduro for the first timelast week.Pro-government block captains in neighborhoods like El Guarataro have responded by threatening to deny food rations to those who march with the opposition or fail to join pro-Maduro rallies. Militia groups armed by the government and known as “colectivos” are deployed to intimidate would-be defectors and are suspected in the deaths of several protesters.
The Post notes that those were the ones still strong enough to protest, or the ones not to preoccupied looking for food. Any questions as to what socialism fails every time looks like/ We hope the Post is right that this really is a turning point
THANKS, OBAMA, your Somali Muslim freeloaders are giving America something back in return: MEASLES & other diseases
The measles outbreak within Minnesota’s Somali community continues to spread to more parts of the state. “Officials believe it was imported by a traveler or immigrant from a foreign country, since measles no longer occurs naturally in the United States,” the Star Tribune reports.
Breitbart Late Friday, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) announced that the total number of cases has now grown to 32, and “28 of the cases are Somali Minnesotan.” The MDH has not yet announced the demographic characteristics of the other four cases that have been diagnosed as part of the outbreak.
The geographic reach of the outbreak has now extended from Hennepin County, part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area—where it originated and where 30 of the cases have now been confirmed—to Stearns County, 65 miles northwest of Minneapolis-St. Paul, where one case was confirmed early last week, and now to Ramsey County, were onw case was confirmed on Friday. “31 of the cases are confirmed to be unvaccinated and 1 of the cases had 1 MMR,” MDH said late Friday.
“The cases are children ages 0 through 5 years,” MDH added.
“Fears of the MMR vaccine have taken hold within the Somali community, particularly after 2008, when many parents became concerned about what seemed to be a cluster of autism cases among Somali students in the Minneapolis schools. Measles vaccination rates among young Somali children have fallen sharply since, providing fertile ground for an outbreak to develop,” the Star Tribune reports.
“Officials are still trying to identify the source, but believe it was imported by a traveler from a foreign country, since measles no longer occurs naturally in the United States,” the Star Tribune adds.Democrats in Minnesota are not asking the most obvious questions that this statement raises: Did the traveler from a foreign country who may have “imported” measles to the Somali community in Minnesota arrive from Somalia?
If so, would these travelers have been prevented from arriving in the United States had federal district judges in Washington, Maryland, and Hawaii not struck down President Trump’s Executive Orders 13769 and 13780, both of which imposed temporary travel bans on residents of Somalia to the United States?
The state of Minnesota, led by Attorney General Lori Swanson and Governor Mark Dayton, both Democrats, joined the state of Washington as a plaintiff in the lawsuit against Executive Order 13769, which was subsequently halted by a federal judge in Washington state in February.
“The state of Minnesota is suing the Trump administration over the president’s executive order that temporarily bans refugees and travelers from seven predominantly Muslim nations from entering the United States,” the Star Tribunereported in February:
The current outbreak, which may continue to grow, has, in effect, re-introduced the disease—long dormant—to Minnesota. “Minneapolis-St. Paul is home to the largest Somali community in the United States, estimated to be around 70,000,” Breitbart News reported on Friday:
“Since FY 2002, 100,246 Somali refugees have resettled in the United States, according to the State Department’s interactive website. Of these, 99.9 percent, or 99,909, are Muslim,” Breitbart News reported in December. Assimilation of resettled Somalis in this country has been a significant problem, and continues to be so.
In 2016, two Somali refugees, one in a Minnesota mall, the other at Ohio State University, attacked and injured more than 20 Americans. Both refugees were killed by law enforcement during the attacks.
Somali immigrants to Minnesota have been resistant to having their children immunized against measles with the MMR vaccine, the MDH has acknowledged. That resistance highlights just one of several public health practices in which the Somali community has a troublesome record.
“On the public health front, Somali refugees in Minnesota have been identified as responsible for 22 percent (161 out of 732) of the cases of active tuberculosis (TB) diagnosed between 2010 and 2014, despite accounting for about one percent of the state’s population,” Breitbart News reported.
“Recently, female genital mutilation (FGM) within the American Somali community has come to the forefront as a significant problem as well. Earlier this month, two doctors and another person were arrested in Livonia, Michigan on charges of conducting illegal FGM procedures on young Somali girls transported from Minnesota.”
Progressivism has always been a quasi-religious faith, whose doctrines center on the perfectibility of man if only the educated classes (its very own priesthood) are able to command sufficient authority.
Marxism, too, is a faith, one that denigrates other religions as the “opiate of the people.”
Religions devolve into cults when they set themselves in opposition to the entire world outside their confines, and when they insist that their members hold unique insights and virtues, and so have a duty to shun and denigrate the “gentiles” (everyone else). Cult leaders understand that exposure to outsiders leads to a diminishment of commitment, and a decline of their own power.
The American progressive left has been on a glide path toward cult status for a long time, but the election of Donald Trump has accelerated the process considerably. A famous 2014 survey:
...found that liberals are more likely to dump a friend than conservatives over partisan leanings alone.“Consistent liberals are more likely to stop talking to someone because of politics. Roughly a quarter (24 percent) have done so, compared with 16 percent of consistent conservatives and around 10 percent of those with more mixed political views,” the research says.Liberals also tend get more riled by their social media contacts than their conservative counterparts. The researchers queried Facebook users to see if they “have ever hidden blocked, unfriended or stopped following someone because they disagreed with something that person posted about politics.” The results: 44 percent of liberal respondents said they had ended that relationship — compared to 31 percent of conservatives, and 26 percent of the general population.“When it comes to getting news about politics and government, liberals and conservatives inhabit different worlds,” the research noted.
It is a serious danger sign for any mass movement when the shunning of non-adherents becomes widespread. You don’t grow by shunning. You become an increasingly isolated minority. Like a cult.
Enter DNC chair Tom Perez:
Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez became the first head of the party to demand ideological purity on abortion rights, promising Friday to support only Democratic candidates who back a woman’s right to choose.“Every Democrat, like every American, should support a woman’s right to make her own choices about her body and her health,” Perez said in a statement. “That is not negotiable and should not change city by city or state by state.”“At a time when women’s rights are under assault from the White House, the Republican Congress, and in states across the country,” he added, “we must speak up for this principle as loudly as ever and with one voice.”
This is a confession of a cultist that outsiders must be shunned.
Or consider this survey of campus life at Dartmouth, the elite Ivy League university:
With only 11% of the campus mildly or strongly supporting President Trump, one would assume that the vast majority would feel so secure in their dominance that the others could be tolerated as mere curiosities. Not so:
By a decisive margin, Democrats prefer to not be exposed to a roommate whose political views are not their own, while strong majorities of Republicans and Independents have no such problem being exposed to contrary views.
This bespeaks insecurity as the basis for intolerance. It is what beleaguered cultists do.
Then there is the bizarre practice of virtue-signaling. A friend just sent me this picture of this description of a work of art in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City:
There is absolutely no reason related to art for the second paragraph to exist. It is purely a way of signaling membership in the Trump-hating cult.
By offering a personal target, the embodiment of success outside the clique of intellectuals/artists/journalists/academics that considers itself the kingmakers in our society, Donald Trump has provoked extreme, off-the-wall attacks on himself as a form of virtue-signaling. “We share your values and hate Trump too,” is the underlying explanation for the bizarre art description. “We are members of the cult, too.”
As cults go, the Trump haters are a very big one, and they are even richer than Scientology. Ruthless and greedy wealthy people can gain absolution for their sins through membership in, and support of, the cult.
Of course, the same was true of Communism. And how did that work out?
The Democrat Puppet Master
The "People's Climate March" in Washington, D.C. featured tens of thousands of demonstrators, drawn to another opportunity to show their opposition to President Trump.
There were no less than 55 groups who helped organize the march. According to the Media Research Center, 18 of those groups received $36 million from George Soros over the last decade, proving once again the billionaire Democratic donor's influence on liberal activists.
The People’s Climate March scheduled for Saturday has a powerful billionaire behind it: Democratic Party donor George Soros.Mr. Soros, who heads the Open Society Foundations, contributed over $36 million between 2000 and 2014 to 18 of the 55 organizations on the march’s steering committee, according to an analysis released Friday by the conservative Media Research Center.Six of the groups received during that time more than $1 million each: the Center for Community Change, the NAACP, the Natural Resources Defense Council, People’s Action, Public Citizen and the Union of Concerned Scientists. The People’s Climate March, which comes a week after another climate-themed anti-Trump event, the March for Science, is scheduled to run along Pennsylvania Avenue and end by surrounding the White House in order to “drown out all of the climate-denying nonsense that has been coming out of this Administration.”While some of its partners are climate-change organizations like NextGen Climate, founded by top Democratic donor Tom Steyer, the march is also heavily backed by labor unions and social-justice groups such as Color of Change, which is also backed by Mr. Soros.Only three of the six organizations on the steering committee — NRDC, Public Citizen and UCS — “actually have anything climate-related in their individual missions,” the MRC reported.“The presence of many non-climate related organizations leading the march indicated that this climate march (just like the March for Science and the Women’s March) is not about a single issue, but about attacking the new administration,” MRC’s Aly Nielsen said. She pointed to the march’s “usual checklist of liberal policy priorities,” such as labor-union rights, a minimum-wage increase, and a halt to “attacks on immigrants.”People’s Climate March organizers have made no secret of their antipathy for President Trump, calling for “climate, jobs and justice” as an alternative to “Trump’s disastrous agenda.”
In the most recent Gallup poll, just 4% of Americans identified environmental problems as the "Most Important" issue facing the country. While the turnout for the march was impressive, it is a legitimate question whether this sort of astroturfing by liberal donors has any effect on the ordinary voter.
The marchers are largely people who never met an EPA regulation they didn't think needed defending. This is especially true of climate change regulations that have needlessly cost thousands of jobs and made energy more expensive. The ignorance about the EPA demonstrated by the marchers was appalling. The bureaucrats and managers are not "protecting" anything. They have adopted bullying tactics while seeking to expand the agency's reach into the lives of American citizens. There is little sanity in the EPA's actions over the last 8 years and bringing back a reasonable approach to protecting our environment is long overdue.
Soros sees climate change as an opprotunity for increasing his influence and power internationally. That's why he funds so many of these groups. They are ignorantly playing into his hands as he and a very small cadre of billionaires gin up support for their agenda by artificially creating what appears to be a groundswell of grassroots politics.
But their efforts rarely, if ever, pay off at the polls. Far left liberal groups represented in the March yesterday are, after all, far left liberal groups with a radical agenda that is mostly rejected by ordinary Americans. In that sense, Soros is wasting his time and money. But it won't discourage him from continuing his assault on reason and commonsense environmental policies.

Expensed $13,476 in petty cash, hotels, travel after electoral defeat
The campaign committee of former Rep. Corrine Brown (D., Fla.), who is currently on trial for corruption charges, spent thousands on hotels and small travel expenses after Brown was defeated in the Democratic primary last year.
Brown, who lost to former Florida State Sen. Al Lawson in the August 2016 primary, spent $11,278 on "lodging" at a Marriot Hotel in Bethesda, Maryland in late September 2016, nearly one month after the election.
In addition to the hotel expenditures, the campaign disclosed three "petty cash" transactions totaling more than $2,000 during the two-week span between October 16 and November 4.
A small amount ($185) also was spent on travel expenses in Houston, Texas and Jacksonville, Florida.
Thousands more were spent on more typical transactions following an election loss, such as payments to campaign vendors.
Brown and her chief of staff, Elias "Ronnie" Simmons, were indicted in July 2016 on 24 counts of fraud stemming from a sham foundation created by the former congresswoman.
More than $800,000 was deposited into Brown's Virginia-based foundation, One Door for Education, which spent only $1,200 on charity.
Federal authorities found that Brown, Elias, and Carla Wiley, the foundation's president, spent $200,000 of the group's funds on luxury vacations, NFL tickets, plane tickets, car repairs, and lavish events.
Wiley pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud in March 2016. Simmons pleaded guilty to fraud in February.
An FBI agent testified Wednesday against Brown, saying the money was taken from her foundation and put into a bank account shared by Brown and her daughter.
Last year, the Washington Free Beacon obtained records from the Corrine Brown Legal Expense Trust, finding that Brown had accepted contributions from lobbyists, which is prohibited by House ethics rules.
One of the lobbyists, Michael Korens, provided the Free Beacon with an email from Simmons when asked who solicited the contribution. The email contained a flyer for a fundraising event at Johnny's Half Shell, a now-closed seafood restaurant located on Capitol Hill.
Korens said he was unaware that members of Congress could not accept contributions from lobbyists to cover their legal expenses, and said he called the House ethics committee to self-report the potential violation.
The lobbyists who provided the contributions did not violate House ethics rules. However, legal defense funds are prohibited from accepting such donations, according to House ethics rules.
Brown again solicited donations to her legal defense fund in September, claiming the criminal charges against her were brought due to her efforts to fight racism.
A Brown spokesman previously said he did not know if the fund was approved by the ethics committee to be used on her criminal charges.
Tom Rust, chief counsel of the ethics committee, did not respond to Free Beacon inquiries about whether the fund was approved. Brown could not be reached for comment.
This Leftist Idiot is opening her
Shit Hole Pie Hole again. It's called enforcing the laws on the books
Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.) responded on Sunday to President Donald Trump's recent comments about illegal immigration, describing them as "racist," "dog whistling," and designed to instill fear in his constituents by mentioning Latinos.
MSNBC's "AM Joy" played a clip of Trump decrying a "surge" in illegal immigration, saying despite voters' concerns, the federal government didn't enforce immigration laws.
"Year after year, you pleaded for Washington to enforce our laws, as illegal immigration surged, refugees flooded in and lax vetting threatened your family's safety and security," Trump said at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday.
"That is absolutely racist. That's dog whistling," Waters told host Joy Reid, before arguing that Trump used Latinos to "create fear in his constituency."
Waters further described Trump's comments as "absolutely divisive" and said "no leader, no president should be saying and doing the kinds of things he's doing."
