DNC's Donna Brazile calls for new Constitution to 'save American democracy'

Caution, More genuine Liberal Stupidity on Display here!

Donna Brazile calls for new Constitution.

On Saturday, Donna Brazile, the vice-chair of voter registration and participation for the Democratic Party, said on Twitter that the United States needs to scrap its currentConstitution and replace it in order to save American democracy. She linked to a Salonarticle that claims the current Constitution is "shaking in its boots."
"We need a new constitution," Brazile tweeted. "Here’s how we save American democracy from charlatans, loudmouths and the 1 percent."
Brazile did not specify what her ideal Constitution would look like, but Andrew Burstein, a professor of history at Louisiana State University and author of "Lincoln Dreamt He Died: The Midnight Visions of Remarkable Americans from Colonial Times to Freud," did. According to Burstein, mandatory federal service, higher taxes on the rich and environmental radicalism -- among other things -- are needed to save American democracy.
In short, Burstein and Brazile want a Constitution codifying every aspect of liberalism. Although neither said it, the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms would no doubt be eliminated, and free speech rights for some would, in all likelihood, be severely curtailed.
While some supported Brazile's idea, most did not. Some called Brazile "scary," while others called her idea ludicrous.
"You've been a part of the political elite your whole life," one person told Brazile. "We need to be saved from the likes of you."
"We need to start abiding by our current constitution," another person added. "We don't need a new one."
"Pardon me while I ignore this utterly ludicrous proposition from a charlatan and loudmouth," said another Twitter critic. Others suggested Brazile find another country and take her fellow leftists with her. One person suggested the best way to save American democracy from "charlatans" is to vote for Republicans.
It's not the first time liberals have argued that the Constitution needs to be replaced. In December 2012, we reported that Louis Michael Seidman, a professor of constitutional law at Georgetown University, said the United States should "give up" on the document, "with all its archaic, idiosyncratic and downright evil provisions."
In 2010, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., derided the GOP "Pledge to America" because itquotes the Constitution, and called it a revolutionary plan by extreme Republican "Tenthers,” or those who support the Tenth Amendment. Ironically, she -- along with every other elected official -- swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
It's clear, however, who it is Brazile wants to see silenced. As the conservative blog Weasel Zippers noted, her real target are those who fall to the right of center.
