Some boneheaded fools in New York City have launched an idiotic campaign called “Disarm NYPD,” which would create “no-cop zones” in the city.
Disarm NYPD’s ultimate goal is to completely disarm the police.
“We feel that the police have proven that they’re not responsible enough to carry arms due to the fact that they’ve been killing people so consistently for so many decades,” one of the group’s members said in an interview with wagingnonviolence.org. “We feel that they should be disarmed immediately.”
After Ferguson, Disarm NYPD members decided that safety in the city of New York can be achieved by unarmed citizens far better than by a gun-tooting police force:
“We’ve all been organizing for years,” the Disarm NYPD member said. “After Ferguson, we got really inspired and started organizing during the demonstrations. And we figured —since it’s getting warm, and especially since that Ferguson report came out—that we need to start taking more action. We can’t let things fall apart. We have to keep the pressure on the police.”
