Not AGAIN? Double shootings rock Albuquerque

We have become almost inured to the daily violence occurring in our inner cities – just as we tune out the violence occurring in far off Middle Eastern cities with names we can hardly pronounce, let alone find on a map.
The news media lights on fire when a lone, crazed gunman shoots multiple innocent souls, but bats hardly an eye when law enforcement officers are gunned down in the line of duty.
We reported yesterday about the fatal shooting of New York City policeman, Randolph Holder. And now we must report of another officer down.
As KOB reports“An Albuquerque Police Department officer was shot around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Walgreens at Central and Eubank. The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Davon Lymon, was captured just after midnight Thursday, according to APD. Sources tell KOB the officer was shot in the head and neck during a traffic stop. Albuquerque Police Chief Gorden Eden said the officer is an eight-year veteran of the force.”
Out of respect for the family, the officer’s name has not been released, but we do know he was also a Special Forces Military veteran.
The shooter in this case, 34-year-old, Davon Lymon, has an extensive criminal history.
KOB reports that “Lymon has faced four court cases in 2015 alone before Wednesday’s shooting, though many related to the same crime from 2014.
He pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, aggravated battery and conspiracy charges in 2002 after he was accused in the 2001 murder of 20-year-old Ronald Chanslor Jr. – the grandson of the founder of Blake’s Lotaburger.
He was sentenced to 11.5 years with 390 days time served, giving him a little less than 10.5 years in prison.
He pleaded guilty to fraud and forgery the year before in a Tierra Amarilla court.”
Liberals always complain that we must have “prison reform” and too many young men (of color) are being incarcerated. In cases like this, it appears we’re letting the wrong ones out.
Separately in Albuquerque, the community is reeling over the road rage shooting that claimed the life of a 4-year-old girl.
Fox News reports“Authorities said Tony Torrez, 32, had been charged with murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, assault with the intent to commit a violent felony, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, child abuse, child abuse resulting in death and tampering with evidence. He was being held on $650,000 bail.
Police said Torrez had confessed to Tuesday’s shooting, which killed Lilly Garcia as she rode in a vehicle driven by her father Alan, who had just picked Lilly and her brother up from school.”
Looking at the pictures of these suspects, you just have to wonder. What brought them to this awful point? What happened in their families and their communities to leave them void of any moral compass?
But as our culture as a whole moves away from any faith, as activists work to eliminate any mention of God or morality from our lives, is it any wonder this violence continues to escalate? There has to be an end somewhere, doesn’t there?
