When a Missouri man raped an eleven-year-old child and infected the child with an STD, the state went easy on him. The judge pitied the sex offender and decided not to give Joseph Meili any jail time despite his sex crimes against children. The assault occurred in Springfield, Missouri when Meili used an app to pick up the little girl from her home and take her to his apartment, where he sexually assaulted her imparting a sexually transmitted infection to the little girl.
Because it was discovered that the child had contracted chlamydia a few weeks after the rape, the incident was linked back to Meili and his predatory habit of using technology to hunt down young victims for his depraved predilections.
Meili, who is 21, used an app called “Meet Me” to target a child and rape her. However, the criminal justice system in Missouri went easy on the child rapist, sentencing him solely to supervised probation.
Meili assaulted the child on July 16 after reaching into her home via the app and urging the child to meet him.
Initially, Meili was charged with kidnapping and statutory rape. She told police that she fell asleep while in Meili’s apartment. When she woke up, she felt she had been sexually assaulted while she was sleeping.
Later, she told investigators that Meili had removed her clothing and raped her. Semen was then found on the child’s underwear, proving that her story was true.
When the girl tested positive for chlamydia a few weeks after the rape, it was obvious that Meili was the attacker.
While Meili had kidnapped the girl, a search was sent out to find her. She was missed. Firefighters and Sheriff’s deputies started looking for her. They searched the woods and everything they could think of. Eventually, they pinged her cellphone but were unable to trace her to Meili’s sex den. Eventually, she returned home and was found packing a bag to leave again. Meili wanted more from the child.
Police contacted Meili about the girl, and he acted surprised by it all. He said he didn’t have any idea what the police were talking about.
Despite all this evidence, despite the evil acts perpetrated by a child rapist, the Missouri judge took one look at Meili and thought he looked like a “good man,” so he gave him his freedom back.
Meili’s defense claimed that he thought the eleven-year-old child was eighteen.
“I’m freaking out,” he reportedly said. That’s when he decided to meet up with a detective at a McDonald’s and share his side of his rape story. The details of which he kept protected in his heart.
Following the judge’s decision to let Meili off easy for child rape, a person turned to Twitter to share their frustration at Missouri’s criminal justice system’s failure.
“Let me get this right. Joseph Meili confesses to molesting an eleven-year-old girl, giving her chlamydia, gets five years’ probation. Doesn’t get any rape or child molestation charges on record. Damn, it must feel good to be a white man in America knowing you can do whatever you want!”
