Issa Jumps to the Forefront Over GSA Scandal

Note:  Obama new about this 11 months before it broke in the news. Only when it broke in the news he said he was furious?   WOW what an idiot to have a delay in getting mad!

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., is quickly turning into the face of Republican outrage over the General Services Administration (GSA) scandal afflicting the White House.

His staff has posted embarrassing GSA videos on YouTube, and Issa has ripped the Obama administration in TV interviews, The Hill reports. Issa will have the first chance to demand answers from White House officials about GSA spending issues when the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that he chairs holds a hearing Monday.

But Issa has to be careful. Some fellow Republicans don’t like the fact that he always seems to get the central role in challenging the Obama administration on scandalous issues, according to The Hill. As chairman of the Oversight committee, Issa has almost 80 staff members at his disposal.

The GSA scandal concerns the $822,000 that the agency spent on a Las Vegas junket that included outlays for a clown, a mind reader, and commemorative coins. The spending was revealed in an Inspector General report last week, leading to the resignation of GSA administrator Martha Johnson.

Issa also led the response to the Fast and Furious gun-walking fiasco in which the government ended up providing weapons to Mexican drug traffickers. And he has led the investigation of the Obama administration’s loan guarantee to failed solar energy company Solyndra.

Issa’s effort on Fast and Furious has overshadowed that of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith’s, R-Texas. And Issa’s work on Solyndra puts him in the same space as House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton, R-Mich.
