Confirmed: NO ONE Fired For Fast And Furious Scandal

The director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirmed this week that no government officials were fired for allowing the “gun-walking” probe to become corrupt.

Todd Jones, who took over as director of ATF last year, told the House Oversight & Government Affairs Committee that that no one was fired over the Operation Fast and Furious scandal. Under Jones’ leadership, ATF officials involved in the scandals received less severe punishments than recommended by the Justice Department’s inspector general or ATF’s professional review board.

“Everybody at the Department of Justice from yourself to the attorney general is living under the specter of Fast and Furious and how it discredited the men and women who do these jobs otherwise right,” Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) said. “Just to make the record clear, was anyone fired as a result of Fast and Furious?”

Jones responded that everyone involved in the scandal had been either “disciplined” or was “no longer working with the agency,” though no one had been fired.

Operation Fast and Furious allowed 2,000 guns to flow into the hands of Mexican drug cartels. Though the guns were originally supplied to track the drug trafficking organizations, the government lost track of all of the weapons. ATF was forced to stop the operation after a gun involved was found at the murder scene of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.
