Trayvon Martin’s Mom Claims The Government Doesn’t Care About Black People

Douche Bag Award

While speaking to New York magazine last week about her son’s death, Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin, claimed that the government doesn’t really care about black people.
When asked whether the government is doing enough to address the alleged epidemic of violence against black people, she said, “Absolutely not!”
“I just don’t feel like it’s enough. If the tables were turned and it was their family member, if it was their friends, and if it was happening to their community, then they would be doing a lot more. I think because it’s African-Americans it doesn’t seem as important.”
Keep in mind that her son died when neighborhood watch coordinator George Zimmerman shot him in self-defense. While most people agree that Zimmerman happens to be a hot-headed asshole, they acknowledge that Martin attacked him first nevertheless.
The race hustlers continue to allege otherwise — and thus give credence to Fulton’s beliefs — on the grounds that Zimmerman (the “white Hispanic”) should never have confronted Martin in the first place. However, the U.S. Constitution affords every single one of us the right to question another human being without being attacked, pummeled and nearly killed.
“I mean, I am an American citizen and I have certain rights, but I feel like those rights are being ignored by the government,” Fulton added added.
The only individual who ignored anyone’s rights was her son, who ignored Zimmerman’s right to not be attacked out of the blue.
Furthermore, Fulton forgets that Zimmerman received a fair and impartial trial — one he won fair and square.
As for this belief that the government doesn’t really care about black people, even the leftist Daily Kos blog admits that “[b]lack Americans make up 32% of welfare recipients, even though they comprise a mere 12% of the US population” — and “[b]lack Americans are more than twice as likely to have been on welfare than [w]hite Americans.”
I understand Fulton’s frustration, but gosh, I sure wish someone would sit her down and explain the truth to her …
