North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in met at the border Saturday afternoon local time at a surprise second summit, Seoul revealed.
The two leaders met in Panmunjom (also known as the Joint Security Area or Truce Village), the location of their first summit meeting on April 27, according to Yonhap News Agency, citing reports from South Korea’s presidential office. The meeting lasted about two hours.
It seems there were more hugs, despite recent tensions.

The two sides discussed the need to implement the Panmunjom Declaration — the joint statement from their first meeting, as well as ways to get plans for President Donald Trump’s summit with Kim back on track. The specific details of this meeting will be announced Sunday morning (local time).
The surprise summit comes a little over a week after North Korea decided to cancel talks with South Korea over joint war drills with the U.S. At that same time, Pyongyang cast doubt over the future of the Trump-Kim summit. Trump canceled the U.S.-North Korea summit Thursday following a series of statements from the foreign ministry criticizing the administration. North Korea stayed calm, stressing that Pyongyang is ready to engage Washington in dialogue “at any time.”
The message appears to have caused Trump to reconsider his decision, as he announced Friday evening that the U.S. and North Korea are in talks to restore the canceled summit. (RELATED: Trump Says US Is Talking To North Korea About Saving The Summit)
It is unclear at this time which Korean leader initiated Saturday’s surprise summit.
