Ok, check this one out, you brag in a national media outlet about using the media to promulgate a false narrative about a major foreign policy — whaddya think should happen? Should you be forced to step down? Should you go before the representatives of the American people and explain your very public actions and declarations? Or should you just give everyone the big middle finger salute and act with the arrogance of officialdom as coined by Marcus Tullius Cicero?
Well, here’s the answer, courtesy of Fox News, “The White House confirmed Monday that Obama adviser Ben Rhodes will not be allowed to testify before House lawmakers on the Iran nuclear deal, after a last-ditch attempt by Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz to pry the controversial aide loose for the hearing.
Chaffetz and the White House have been engaged in an escalating feud, all on the heels of a New York Times Magazine piece where Rhodes was quoted boasting about the administration’s success in crafting a public narrative for the Iran deal. The profile on Rhodes quotes him saying they built an “echo chamber” of experts who sold that narrative to young, often inexperienced reporters.
Chaffetz, R-Utah, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, wanted the deputy national security adviser to testify at a hearing set for Tuesday titled, “White House narratives on the Iran Nuclear Deal.”
“We’re planning as if he is attending, and he’ll have a comfortable seat awaiting his arrival,” Chaffetz said Monday afternoon of Rhodes.
But W. Neil Eggleston, White House counsel, sent a letter to Chaffetz late Monday saying Rhodes would not attend. He cited what appeared to be an executive privilege-related claim, asserting that such a senior presidential adviser’s appearance “threatens the independence and autonomy of the President, as well as his ability to receive candid advice and counsel.” For those reasons, he said, “we will not make Mr. Rhodes available to testify.”
Man, you just gotta love it. President Obama basically just said his deputy creative writing expert – yep that’s a vital component of foreign policy experience — has the inherent right to lie to the American people. And since he has that inherent right to lie, we cannot have this very close advisor be held accountable before the American people because President Obama possesses the independence and autonomy to have his folks lie to the American people.
Candid advice and counsel? Ben Rhodes tells fairy tales and false narratives, and that is his purpose in life. He was the mastermind behind the Benghazi false narrative about a video and altering CIA intelligence talking points — so I guess that creative writing degree comes in handy.
And if you got a chance to see the “Rhodes-less hearing” you would have found the Democrats on the committee going back to the same ol’ tired Bush Derangement Syndrome — guess they didn’t take their meds. It was all George Bush’s fault because, he lied about Iraq and weapons of mass destruction — how sickening and predictable.
Now, what the morally bankrupt progressive socialist left fails to mention is that Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Madeleine Albright, John Kerry and a few others also claimed Saddam Hussein had WMD. But then again, at this point what difference does it make? I love using that phraseology against the left.
The lesson to be learned is there are no standards of decency and integrity accepted and claimed by the left. As Saul Alinsky articulated in his book Rules for Radicals, “RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity’s very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)”
In other words, force your political adversary to live up to standards, morals, rules and codes of character…but don’t claim to have any yourself. It appears that the American people have accepted this rule from Alinsky and when it comes to lying, well, the progressive socialists get a pass because we’ve come to expect that they lie. Actually we accept their lying and dismiss it, which is what’s happening with Ben Rhodes.
But here is the danger for the left — unless they truly believe they will always be in power in America, they’ve established a very bad precedent. When there is a GOP presidential administration and the leftist media tries to all of a sudden acquire a conscience, I believe the response should be for them to “pound sand.” If the leftist progressive media is so accepting of this blatant disregard and disrespect and lying, then the heck with them when they try to hold anyone accountable.
Ben Rhodes doesn’t have any immunity because his appearance “threatens the independence and autonomy of the President” — what a bunch of bovine excrement. In other words, Ben Rhodes cannot appear before the representatives of the American people because President Obama is a liar as well who accepts lying from his closest advisors.
Ben Rhodes MUST be removed or else it becomes undeniably clear that President Obama is complicit and approving of an administration of creative writers who have been feeding us all seven years of falsehoods, deceit and lies. For the progressive socialist left and the media flying monkeys, this is acceptable.
Doggone, it’s time we stood up and turned Rule Number 4 on them — besiege them and put their credibility and reputation on the line.
