Planned Parenthood spending millions to elect Democrats By Rick Moran

Planned Parenthood, who receives more than $500 million in funds from the American taxpayer every year, is engaged in a highly partisan effort to elect Democrats to office – including Hillary Clinton.

How do they get away with it?  There's a loophole in the campaign finance laws that allows Planned Parenthood to create a separate entity to collect donations and distribute cash and services to candidates.  The PPFA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, while Planned Parenthood Action is a 501(c)(40 advocacy group.  They keep separate books and are not allowed by law to coordinate action.  But does anyone really believe that the Planned Parenthood Action Fund doesn't do the bidding of Planned Parenthood, the non-profit?

Washington Times:

The Planned Parenthood Action Fund recently launched ads on Craig’s List in Cleveland offering to pay up to $720 per week for door-to-door canvassers on behalf of Democratic candidates, with those hired earning between $15 to $18 per hour for up to 40 hours per week, LifeNews reported.

“One of the candidates certainly will be pro-abortion Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton,” who was endorsed by Planned Parenthood Action in January, LifeNews said.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America received $553.7 million in government grants and reimbursements in Fiscal Year 2015, about half its annual $1.1 billion budget, over the continued objections of pro-life advocates who argue that the funding violates federal prohibitions on funding abortion.

Planned Parenthood has countered that the federal dollars do not fund abortions except in circumstances allowed by law. The 100-year-old organization is the nation’s largest abortion provider.

“Without Planned Parenthood, many patients would not have timely access to basic reproductive health care,” PPFA president Cecile Richards said in a Sept. 29 letter to Congress.

That $550 million in federal grants and reimbursements may not go directly to fund abortions.  But they make more abortions possible by funding administrative and other costs in PP's budget.  It's facetious to claim that federal funds don't fund abortions when obviously, funds currently used for abortions would have to be used to keep their offices open.  It's a sham argument.

Because the Action Fund is an advocacy group, it can support whichever candidates it wishes.  But a fertile avenue of investigation for Republicans could be to explore the relationship between Planned Parenthood and its Action Fund to discover if there is any overlap.
