BREAKING: Nine DEAD, 50 wounded…

Perhaps, after this latest tragedy, there will be more attention paid to the horror show of black-on-black violence in Chicago.
Over this past weekend, nine people were killed, and 50 others wounded in Chicago, home of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton…where Rahm Emanuel is the mayor.
Chicago police say in one particularly horrific period, two people were killed, seven injured, at four different locations, within 20 minutes of each other.
Among the dead this weekend, Nykea Aldridge, first cousin of NBA star Dwyane Wade, caught in the crossfire. Murders are up 49 percent this year versus last year, and 81 percent over the same time period in 2014.
However, not much has been said, Obama plays more rounds of golf, and Hillary? Well, she’s just like everyone. No one remembers the names and faces of those gunned down, regardless of age, until now. The tragic shooting death of NBA superstar Dwayne Wade’s cousin may be a tipping point. This isn’t not about the gun; it’s about the real cancer that has invaded the black community. It is about what really “oppresses” blacks in America — the decimation of the black family.
First, it has to sadden us and we must feel deep sorrow for a mother who was walking her child, only to be gunned down in cold blood. It reminds me of the incident in Brunswick, Georgia where the little son of Sherry West, Antonio, was shot in the face. And horribly, Ms. West had moved to what she believed would be peaceful Brunswick because she’d lost a 17-year-old son in a street stabbing in 2008.
As reported by CNN, “Chicago police have arrested two brothers in connection with the death of NBA star Dwyane Wade’s cousin Nykea Aldridge.
Darwin Sorrells Jr., 26, and Derren Sorrells, 22, have each been charged with first-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder, police said Sunday.
Darwin Sorrells has also been charged with a count of criminal trespass, a misdemeanor. Both men are gang members who were on parole for gun convictions, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie T. Johnson said Sunday at a news conference. They are both being held without bond, a source with knowledge of the case told CNN Sunday.
Aldridge was killed Friday afternoon when she was caught in the crossfire of a shooting while pushing her infant child in a stroller near Dulles School of Excellence on the city’s south side, police said. The child, about 3 weeks old, was not injured, family members said.
The Sorrells brothers started shooting after one of them “exchanged looks” with a man who was dropping off women he’d picked up in the suburbs and driven into Chicago, Brendan Deenihan, commander of area central detectives for Chicago police, said Sunday. The man was not an Uber driver, as had been previously reported, Deenihan said. The Sorrells knew the man was not from the neighborhood and thought he might have been armed, Deenihan said.
“When he comes out to his vehicle now there are two offenders armed with handguns who began chasing him down and attempting to kill him and they miss and kill the female,” Deenihan said. One of the bullets hit Aldridge in the head and another struck her in an arm. She died about 45 minutes later at a hospital. She was near the school because she planned to register some of her four children, police said.”
There is an epidemic in the black community and it has nothing to do with guns. It is about genocidal violence rooted in the fact that there is a dearth of responsible black fathers: men.
Everyone seems to dismiss this, or worse yet, clumsily address it, if at all. I must ask, why was it that the two Sorrells brothers were released on parole for gun convictions? Is this a result of Obama’s far more lenient criminal prosecutions?
And gang members as well — why were they roaming the streets? But the greater question is what happened in the Sorrells family, what was the breakdown that led to these two young black men whose lives are now wasted. What happened to make them so disrespectful of life?
And I’m sorry to ask, but it’s necessary to ascertain: where is the father of Ms. Aldridge’s children, of which it appears there were at least five including her infant. The reason I ask is…what happens to those children now? My fear is that they may fall victim to the harsh streets that took their mother’s life if there’s no positive, strong black male role model in their lives.
And so the saga continues, all that the late New York Democrat Senator Daniel Patrick Monyihan predicted as a result of Lyndon Johnson’s policy of government checks for out-of-wedlock births has come to fruition.
President Johnson’s insidious and seemingly intended consequence of providing checks to women for not having a man in the home has destroyed the two-parent black family. The caveat of not having a man in the home has resulted in the government becoming the man, the provider.
It has also enabled black men to assume no responsibility for producing children. And so it is that aimless young black men with apparently no direction take to the streets and gun down each other — and mothers. In the case of little Antonio Santiago, or Antonio West, they even gun down children. What type of depraved mind has overtaken the black community? And is not Donald Trump’s fault. It’s the fault of the black community and its lack of leadership. There exist only puppets and their masters pulling their strings come from the party of the jackass – which over the past fifty years, has turned the black community into a modern economic plantation, enslaving a populace for the purpose of fear mongering and race baiting — all for votes. Truly, what does the black community have to lose for challenging the failures of the new American Socialist Party? The party of Jim Crow, segregation, lynchings, and now the destruction of the urban centers, the black community.
This is a critical conversation for the current presidential election cycle. It has to happen now, or else, how much worse can this situation become, considering the “killing fields” of Chicago. Requiem en Pace Nykea Aldridge, and maybe there in Heaven, you can mother little Antonio West.
