Yikes: Activist who criticized Trump’s “Mexico” comments ARRESTED for…

You can file this story under the category of “horrible irony.”
Meet Tony Yapias, a pro-illegal immigration Hispanic activist bent on keeping Donald Trump out of the White House.
He’s the director of a group called “Proyecto Latino de Utah” which has organized a number of protests against Trump. At one protest in Salt Lake City, Tony’s brother James called for Trump to “apologize to all of our children for referring to Mexicans as rapists and criminals during the campaign.” Well, he might want to have a second look at his brother…
Utah Latino activist Tony Yapias, a native of Peru, has been charged with rape for assaulting a woman he had a relationship with up until a few weeks ago.
Yapias is reportedly an illegal alien himself originally who supports open borders and who harshly criticized Donald Trump for calling some Mexicans rapists.
Yapias, 50 was charged with one count of rape, a first-degree felony, and one count of evidence tampering, a class A misdemeanor.
He is the director of Proyecto Latino de Utah and he was director of Utah’s Hispanic Affairs Office and has had several Hispanic-affairs radio shows. Bail was set at $250,000.
Yapias went to the woman’s South Salt Lake home, court documents say — despite her admonition in multiple text messages that he stay away. He wanted to convince her to continue their four year old relationship.
“You don’t get it,” the woman texted Yapias. “No I don’t get it,” Yapias responded, the document states. “I”ll be there,” he then said.
A bully, Yapias texted that he was “well aware of the woman’s immigration status,” and he was at a “meeting about immigration with representatives with Washington, D.C..”
He pushed his way into her home when he got there. “The defendant forced the issue and had sexual intercourse with the victim without her consent,” investigators say. Yapias said she consented.
Yapias later grabbed the woman’s cellphone and deleted their text-message exchange as the two discussed her reasons for being angry with him and ending their relationship. The conversation took place in Yapias’ car just after the rape.
Granted – Trump could’ve rephrased those particular comments he made during the speech in which he announced his candidacy, but it was clear he was speaking explicitly of illegal immigrants, not all Mexicans. How hard is it to not do the one thing that proved Trump’s point?
