Evidence Trump Was Right About Illegal Voting

RUSH: You remember leading up to the presidential election in November that Donald Trump alluded to the fact that there might be as many as two million or millions of illegal alien votes? And do you remember the reaction from the Democrats and the media? It was like a bunch of stuck pigs in a barnyard on the way to slaughterhouse that had just figured out what was happening. They went bananas. And they said, “This is outrageous! This is outrageous! Trump is tampering with the election with Russia and now he’s claiming that illegals are voting. This is outrageous, this is irresponsible, Trump is destroying our democracy,” blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
And all the while, none of them could say that it wasn’t true. Nobody could say it wasn’t true. So here’s the thing. At the time the Democrats were accusing the Russians of tampering with, of hacking the election, Trump comes along and says, “Yeah, there may be as many as two million illegal people voting.” Democrats say, “No way. It’s not possible.” You remember this. I’m sure you do. It was one of the many incidents Trump had said something that the reaction from the Democrats and the media was, “See, I’m telling you, this guy is insane. This guy is unfit! This guy is a danger.”
I had seen that figure alluded to, it was a blog post, not a news story. I forget the blog. But I think it was the same place Trump got it, actually. I had seen it as well. Anyway, our old buddy Rowan Scarborough here at the Washington Times: “A research group in New Jersey has –” have you seen this? You’ve got a smile on your face like you know where this is going, but you haven’t seen this. “A research group in New Jersey has taken a fresh look at postelection polling data and concluded that –” by the way, this is election poll. This is not opinion polling. This is at the polling place.
“A research group in New Jersey has taken a fresh look at postelection polling data and concluded that the number of noncitizens voting illegally in U.S. elections is likely far greater than previous estimates. As many as 5.7 million noncitizens may have voted in the 2008 election, which put Barack Obama in the White House.
The research organization Just Facts, a widely cited, independent think tank led by self-described conservatives and libertarians, revealed its number-crunching in a report on national immigration.
“Just Facts President James D. Agresti and his team looked at data from an extensive Harvard/YouGov study that every two years questions a sample size of tens of thousands of voters.” Remember the Harvard YouGov study, that contained a lot of data shocking to Democrats. I can’t remember anything off the top of my head, but I’ll be able to dig it up because we reported on two or three elements of the Harvard study, and it is of thousands of people, which is one of the reasons it’s paid so much close attention, and it revealed some really shocking things to left-wing conventional wisdom. I promise I’ll dig some stuff out. My memory on this is failing at the moment.
But they looked at data from “Harvard/YouGov study that every two years questions a sample size of tens of thousands of voters. Some acknowledge they are noncitizens and are thus ineligible to vote. Just Facts conclusions confront both sides in the illegal voting debate: those who say it happens a lot and those who say the problem nonexistent. In one camp, there are groundbreaking studies by professors at Old Dominion University in Virginia who attempted to compile scientifically derived illegal voting numbers using the Harvard data, called the Cooperative Congressional Election Study. On the other side are the professors who conducted the study and contended that ‘zero’ noncitizens of about 18 million adults in the U.S. voted. The liberal mainstream media adopted this position and proclaimed the Old Dominion work was ‘debunked.'”
In other words, the Drive-Bys said there wasn’t any illegal voting, we can’t cheat like that in this country. Now, that was absurd, because we know the objective, at least as far as the Democrats are concerned and many Republicans, too, is to get as many illegals in the country and register them. The Democrats think that they’re automatically gonna register as Democrats. The Republicans think they can get them if they simply stand for comprehensive immigration reform, i.e., amnesty.
“The ODU professors, who stand by their work in the face of attacks from the left, concluded that in 2008 as few as 38,000 and as many as 2.8 million noncitizens voted.” That’s a big range. Mr. Agresti, the president of Just Facts, the think tank doing all this, that “analysis of the same polling data settled on much higher numbers. He estimated that as many as 7.9 million noncitizens were illegally registered,” to vote in 2008, and that between “594,000 to 5.7 million voted.”
And Mr. Scarborough reports here that “These numbers are more in line with the unverified estimates given by President Trump, who said the number of ballots cast by noncitizens was the reason he lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton.” So no one really knows. This is the bottom line. No one really knows because most illegals are not gonna tell you the truth about this. “Hi. I’m from the Harvard YouGov survey, and we’re trying to find people that voted illegally. Are you one of them?”
“Yes. I will confirm I voted illegally.”
“You did?” People are not gonna admit they voted illegally. Here’s the bottom line. Trump was reacted to by, “That can’t be true. There’s no way.” But they couldn’t prove that Trump was wrong. By the same token, nobody else could prove that they were wrong. Common sense has to enter this picture. Common sense must accommodate the likelihood that there are Democrats seeking to get illegal aliens registered to vote. That’s the primary reason behind their support for amnesty.
