Embattled Congresswoman and former DNC head Debbie Wasserman Schultz is dominating the news cycle after her IT staffer Imran Awan was arrested for attempting to flee the country following a $300,000 wire transfer to Pakistan.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, the Awan brothers were arrested after it was alleged they stole equipment from Democrat lawmakers. What isn’t included in the cycle’s reporting are the other ridiculous antics Wasserman Schultz has been up to recently. How can we forget the former DNC head using a voice changer to call the law firm suing the DNC yet forgetting to disable caller ID?
CBS News reports:
A former information technology staffer for Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz on Monday was arrested on charges of bank fraud at Dulles International Airport as he was attempting to travel to Pakistan.Imran Awan, 37, of Lorton, Virginia, pleaded not guilty to one charge of bank fraud during a Tuesday arraignment at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. According to the court, Awan was granted permission to return to his home under specific conditions, including obeying a strict curfew, wearing a GPS monitoring device, giving up his passports and staying within a 50-mile radius of his home. Awan was fired by office of the former chair of the DNC on Tuesday, according to his attorney Chris Gowen.Awan is accused of trying to defraud Congressional Federal Credit Union, a popular bank for Capitol Hill staffers, by misrepresenting a home $165,000 home equity loan he attempted to obtain for a piece of rental property. FBI Special Agent Brandon Merriman, who penned the charging document, stated in an affidavit that Awan and his wife, Hina Alvi, misrepresented the property for which the loan was to be granted, identifying it as a “principal residence.”
Daily Caller on the Awan brothers’ suspected crimes:
The Awans are “accused of stealing equipment from members’ offices without their knowledge and committing serious, potentially illegal, violations on the House IT network,” according to Politico. Many of the Democrats who employed the Awans are members of the House Committee on Homeland Security, the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. (A list of potentially compromised members is listed below.)Their positions gave them access to members’ emails and confidential files. In addition, Imran was given the password for an iPad used by then-Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a Florida Democrat. The five came to the U.S. from Pakistan.Since the investigation became public, the Awans have abruptly moved from longtime homes in Lorton and Springfield, Va.Imran and Hina recently withdrew their children from their schools, according to members of the Holly Elementary and Lorton Station Middle school communities. Multiple people said Hina told them she was headed to Pakistan where the family has significant property.
What isn’t being reported along side this troubling story are some of the wacky details of Wasserman Schultz’s conduct. The DNC is currently being sued.
Wasserman Schultz reportedly called the attorneys and disguised her voice — but FORGOT TO HIDE HER PHONE NUMBER!
Right around 5:00 PM, attorney Elizabeth Beck’s office received a strange call from someone using a “robotic and genderless” voice changer and began snooping about the DNC lawsuit that was filed regarding 2016 election cheating. The suit is based on documents released by “Guccifer 2.0”, which alleges that the DNC colluded with then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign in an effort to “perpetrate a fraud on the public”, which you can read about here.
The robotic voice closed with “Okey, dokey” after talking with the law firm’s secretary. When the law firm decided to look at who called, the caller ID showed that the number was not blocked. When the firm then googled the number, Debbie Wasserman Schultz’ office came up.
Below are excerpts from the filing:
