Ukrainian MP Demands ‘Criminal Investigation’ into Ukraine-Clinton ‘Collusion’

Amid Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, a Ukrainian lawmaker is demanding Hillary Clinton be investigated for colluding with Ukraine in her plight to win the White House.

POLITICO EU repors:
A Ukrainian member of parliament has requested a criminal investigation into possible meddling by his country’s government in last year’s U.S. presidential election, claiming the interference has “seriously damaged Ukrainian-American relations.”
In a July 24 letter to Ukraine’s prosecutor general, Andrei Derkach, an independent MP who was formerly aligned with a pro-Russian party, requested that authorities launch a pretrial investigation into “illegal interference in the election of President of the United States organized by a criminal organization.” This organization, he said, consisted of senior members of the country’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau, government officials, and other public figures.
Derkach’s accusations center around reports, first published in POLITICO in January, that Ukrainian politicians and diplomats may have cooperated with people connected to the Democratic National Committee to hamper Donald Trump’s candidacy and bolster Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid. The key figure involved has denied any coordination with the DNC.
Interest in these claims gained new life after a tweet by President Trump on July 25, in which he called on the U.S. attorney general’s office to investigate “Ukrainian efforts to sabotage the Trump campaign.”
One of the most egregious aspects of the media’s coverage of alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election is its refusal to report on the efforts of the DNC and Ukraine to get Hillary Clinton elected President. Watchdog group Foundation for Accountability & Civic Trust (FACT) agrees, and recently filed a complaint with the FEC over the alleged collusion between the DNC and Ukraine.

The Hill reports:
A watchdog group will file a complaint with the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday alleging that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) violated federal law by soliciting opposition research on the Trump campaign from a foreign government.
The conservative group Foundation for Accountability & Civic Trust (FACT), launched in 2014 by former U.S. attorney Matthew Whitaker, will allege that political operative Alexandra Chalupa, in her capacity as a DNC consultant, improperly sought intelligence on President Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, from Ukrainian officials.
“Federal law and Commission regulations prohibit any person from knowingly soliciting, accepting or receiving contributions or donations of money or other things of value from a foreign national,” the complaint reads.
FACT alleges that Chalupa violated the ban by “knowingly soliciting” a “valuable in-kind contribution in the form of opposition research and information on a Trump campaign official from a foreign national on behalf of the Democratic National Committee.”
The complaint is based on an investigation by Politico, which found that Chalupa “met with top officials in the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington in an effort to expose ties between Trump, top campaign aide Paul Manafort and Russia.”
In a rare admission last month, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) admitted during an interview with Jon Karl of ABC’s “This Week” that collusion between the DNC and Ukraine is an issue.

According to the Daily Caller:
During a Sunday interview on ABC’s “This Week,” Jon Karl asked Rep. Adam Schiff, who has been an outspoken critic of the Trump Jr. meeting, if he also found the DNC-Ukraine collusion to be wrong.
“No, it wouldn’t be acceptable for the Democrats to accept help from the Ukrainian government,” Schiff admitted.
Schiff tried to argue that the Russian effort to help Trump was much more widespread and reportedly came directly from Russian president Vladimir Putin.
“The scale of what the Russians did is not comparable to anything in [the Politico report],” he alleged.
“So the scale is different, but this is problematic. Acknowledge that,” Karl pressed.
“Well, it would be problematic to get any sort of support from a foreign government,” Schiff said.
