Do you remember what Obama said his top priorities were during his presidential campaigns? Job creation or putting Americans back to work played prominent roles. And of course he bashes the GOP every chance he can over how they fail to support his initiatives in this respect.
The problem now is that the statistics reveal Obama has an entirely different legacy. The White House claims to have created a total of 7.2 million jobs to date in the Obama administration. Of course, any thinking person knows that this claim can hardly be true, not with how sluggish the economy STILL is.
Playing devil’s advocate, lets give Obama credit for creating, uhm, 7.2 million jobs. Since January of 2009, the number of Americans receiving food stamps (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) grew from 32 million to almost 48 million. So, nearly 16 million more Americans are now receiving food stamps than when Obama took office in 2008.
Let’s compare this again. With 7.2 million new jobs created and 16 million new food stamp recipients, it looks like a strange mix. I’m glad the economy is so back on track! That is more than 2 new Americans using food stamps for every job created.
Here is another interesting statistic: an estimated 9.5 million workers have just simply dropped out of the labor force. In other words, these workers have literally given up on their job searches, since Obama assumed the White House. Plus, another 1.6 million signed up to collect disability.
That is quite a legacy. The creation of 7.2 million new jobs would have been quite a feat for the president. Too bad for him that it is completely wiped out and more by those 9.5 million workers that have just simply given up on ever finding a job while the Obama policies are in place. Combined this with the fact that there are now 48 million Americans using food stamps.
Perhaps we should call Mr. Obama the Food Stamp President? It would certainly be more accurate.
Then again, it has always a dream of the liberal establishment to create more and more dependency upon the government. What could be more dependent than actually having the government pay for your food? It would be interesting to see the number of food stamp recipients who are also in some form of subsidized housing or other government programs.
