Darrell Issa: ObamaCare will kill 2.5 million jobs before the next election

The Congressional Budget Office had forecast – before the last Presidential election – that ObamaCare would eliminate about 800,000 jobs. Needless to say, the President and his flacks contested that estimate, and here’s Nancy Pelosi praising President Obama’s leadership in passing ObamaCare.

  Got that? ObamaCare will create four million new jobs. 400,000 almost immediately. And of course, let’s not forget that it will lower your family’sinsurance premiums by $2,500 and you can keep your current plan if you like it, and you can keep your doctor.

These people have absolutely no shame.

Earlier this week, the CBO handed the President and Ms. Pelosi a “Four Pinocchio” award on the ObamaCare creates jobs meme. They are predicting that ObamaCare will eliminate 2.5 million jobs in the next ten years. Mr. President, Madame Former Speaker, since you’re obviously not good at math we’ll do it for you. That’s a swing of 6.5 million jobs going in the wrong direction.

Here’s Rep. Darrell Issa commenting on the latest CBO report.

As he notes, Republicans have been trying to repeal ObamaCare, well some of them have, establishment Republicans seem to have accepted as fact that we’re just going to have to do what Republicans have always done, make the law work better. What they fail to recognize is that never happens. Laws like this simply create a new entitlement class who resist stopping the expansion of government.

It’s going to be interesting. The White House is actually spinning this loss of 6.5 million jobs from their previous estimate as a good thing. They talk out of both of their faces. First, the creation of 4 million new jobs was a big and wonderful deal. Now, the loss of 2.5 million is a big and wonderful deal, and of course, the major media is going along with the story.

Yesterday, Washington’s official non-partisan bean-counter, the Congressional Budget Office, dropped a bomb. By 2024, says the CBO, Obamacare will reduce the size of the U.S. labor force by 2.5 million full-time-equivalent workers. That’s roughly triple what the CBO had estimated three years ago. Such a sizeable decline in the labor force will have substantial detrimental effects on the U.S. economic and fiscal picture. But the CBO wasn’t responsible for the most amazing thing that happened yesterday. That title belongs to the Obama White House, where Press Secretary Jay Carney claimed that 2.5 million Americans leaving the workforce was a good thing, because they would no longer be “trapped in a job.”

Feel better yet? Oh, and does it offend you, just a little, that the people who were elected to run the country once again confirm that they think you are sooooooooo stupid that you’ll believe this claptrap?
