Yesterday was an interesting day. President Obama actually confirmed what we’ve all known for a long time, that he can do what-the-heck-ever he wants.
His actions over the last few years certainly reinforce the idea that he’s sure he’s the Imperial President.
He created the Dreamers Act out of whole cloth. That is the modification to our immigration laws that allows the children of illegal aliens a “path to citizenship”. He’s modified the black letter law of ObamaCare at least 16 times without bothering to have the Congress vote on the changes. Then there are his appointments to the NLRB that were supposedly “recess appointments” when the Senate wasn’t in recess.
Here’s the President, His Imperial Loftiness, on a historical tour with the President of France yesterday.
Any questions?
There is some good news to add to this, thankfully.
The US Supreme Court has heard two cases this session and we should have the decisions in June – just as the election season heats up.
The first case challenges his appointments to the NLRB, and if they are found to be unconstitutional at least two years of NLRB rulings will be thrown out. That’s good news for the American worker and bad news for the President’s union friends.
The second is a challenge to his right to change the effective dates of the Obamacare employer mandate. If that is found to be illegal, that could set in motion the death of Obamacare. The President would likely have to go to the Congress just about the time they’re recessing for the summer campaign season and request the law be modified to conform to his changes.
You can bet all hell will break lose if that happens.
