DeAndre Joshua, 20, was shot and died while in his car. His body was found in the care the next morning, within eyesight of the memorial marking the spot where Michael Brown was killed. Police refused to confirm any details and are examining his car for clues.
Joshua’s grandmother, Renita Towns, said, “Somebody killed him” during the carnage.
One woman said, “All we know is that he was going back to his car when he was robbed.”
St Louis police reported that rioters fired 150 live gunshots and more than a dozen local businesses were razed to the ground by arsonists. 21 arrests were recorded in connection with the activities.
Towns said Joshua had graduated from high school and was working in WalMart. “He was a good kid. He’s got a job. He’s not into drugs or any of that stuff. I only saw him yesterday morning. He was a smart guy, he spoke cleanly. He was positive.”
Police towed away DeAndre’s white Pontiac Grand Prix and interviewed witnesses around 11AM.
