Marc Thiessen, former speechwriter for George W. Bush, told Megyn Kelly tonight that President Barack Obama’s address was “a cynical use of the immigration issue to advance his political goals.”
“He’s not trying to help illegal immigrants, he’s trying to provoke a fight with the Republican Party,” Thiessen said.
According to Thiessen, the reason comprehensive immigration reform didn’t pass in the House last year was because of Obama’s immigration policies. He said Obama’s last executive order was responsible for spurring 50,000 unaccompanied minors to cross the border illegally.
“He is trying to goad the GOP into self-destructive behavior,” Thiessen charged.
