Wikileaks reveals that Hillary’s such a crooked politician that she doesn’t even stay bought

Pity the King of Morocco, who paid up 12 million bucks (equal to the economic output of 3,761 Moroccans working for one year) to buy an appearance in his country by Secretary of State Clinton, and had to settle for Bill and Chelsea.  Thanks to Wikileaks, we now see an email from Huma Abedin to Robby Mook and John Podesta, written on a private email server, not a .gov one, of course, that reveals Hillary thought up a pay-to-play scheme (aka, quid pro quo), got the quid, but never delivered the full quo.

Bob Fredericks of the New York Post lays out the context:

 King Mohammed VI of Morocco agreed to give the money to the Clinton Foundation, provided that it hold a convention in his country in May 2015 with Clinton as the keynote speaker.

But Clinton realized that the conference, slated for a month after she announced her run for president, would hurt her candidacy.

“No matter what happens, she will be in Morocco hosting CGI [Clinton Global Initiative] on May 5-7, 2015. Her presence was a condition for the Moroccans to proceed so there is no going back on this,” top Clinton aide Huma Abedin wrote to campaign manager Robby Mook in a November 2014 e-mail revealed by Wiki­Leaks.

In another e-mail, Abedin warned that if Clinton didn’t attend, the $12 million would be off the table.

“Just to give you some context, the condition upon which the Moroccans agreed to host the meeting was her participation. If hrc was not part if it, meeting was a non-starter,” Abedin wrote in a January 2015 ­e-mail to Mook and campaign manager John  Podesta.

Putting this in terms of criminal law, as this layman understands it, she did consummate a corrupt transaction, and then compounded the crime by defrauding the recipient. I am certain her lawyers will see it differently.

A century and a half ago, Simon Cameron, a senator who became President Lincoln’s first Secretary of War (only to resign a year later in a hailstorm of corruption scandals) defined an honest politician as “one who, when he is bought, will stay bought.”

Even by the standards of a politician so corrupt he resigned the key cabinet position during the Civil War, Hillary fails the test.
