Brit Hume, Senior Political Analyst of FOX News, says that the VA scandals are the types of problems you deal with in both socialized medicine and single-payer healthcare systems. During his commentary segment, Hume called the VA scandal an “inconvenient truth” to those who believe in the schemes (see video below):
When Harry Reid was asked by the Las Vegas Sun if the country would ultimately “have to have a health care system that abandoned insurance as the means of accessing it,” Reid said, “Yes, yes. Absolutely, yes.”

“The fact is that long waits for care are common to government-run, taxpayer-funded health systems. Think about all the complaints you’ve read about long waits for care socialized medical systems in Britain and Canada. They are what happens when the government owns and operates the hospitals, pays the doctors and nurses, and finances it all out a central budget. Many Democrats, including Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, have publicly admitted that Obamacare is a step towards inflicting a single-payer system to America.
As Michael Tanner of the Cato Institute points out, the delays are simply a form of rationing. This is an inconvenient truth to those who believe in full-blown socialized medicine. But it is also inconvenient to those who prefer a single-payer system, where the government does not provide the care, but does pay the bills.”
