The left advances their meme irrespective of whether it is rooted in truth, or not. There are powerful forces at work in the process, from the Obama administration to the media and so on down the line.
We are seeing this play out in Ferguson as the left is stoking the fire of a race war based on nothing more than their intention to do so. And they’re ratcheting up the rhetoric in anticipation of the grand jury meeting that is scheduled for today.
That justice will be served in this case seems more and more unlikely as the left has redefined “justice” to suit their objectives. Pressure is being brought to bear from all corners and the message is the same: white people cannot be trusted and neither can the criminal justice system.
And so, for example, you have a call from many quarters for Bob McCulloch, St. Louis County State Prosecutor, to be removed from the case. McCulloch was elected by the predominantly black community of Ferguson four times, including when he ran against an opponent who was black. But now, suddenly, he’s being painted as unfit and biased. Per a report in The Washington Post:
In addition, St. Louis County’s chief executive and other local black leaders have said they believe the county prosecutor is not fit to handle the case. That’s because McCulloch’s father, a police officer, was killed in the line of duty when the prosecutor was 12 years old. McCulloch is white. The man who shot his father was black.McCulloch has declined to step aside and has said his father’s death will not affect his judgment. On Tuesday, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon (D) said he has not asked McCulloch to recuse himself from the case. His investigation of Brown’s death is being monitored by the Justice Department and the FBI, which are also investigating the shooting in an expanding federal probe that has yielded more than 200 interviews. Holder will arrive in Ferguson on Wednesday to meet with federal prosecutors and agents.
The Justice Department is monitoring his investigation? How utterly inappropriate, disrespectful, and undermining.
Meanwhile, other media outlets have cited McCulloch’s long family connection to law enforcement. The State reports:
The Missouri prosecutor overseeing an investigation into the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown has deep family roots among police: his father, mother, brother, uncle and cousin all worked for St. Louis’ police department...The connections now are being cited by some local residents and black leaders who question whether St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch can remain impartial.
As if this seasoned professional cannot be counted on to do his job properly because he comes from a family of police officers. (And God bless them all.)
Next up we have Missouri’s Governor Jay Nixon – a coward caving to pressure –stating that “a vigorous prosecution must now be pursued.” Not an “investigation” as a grand jury is charged with doing. Governor Nixon is telling the grand jury to skip the investigation and prosecute.
Then we have the master manipulator himself, Eric Holder, who is sticking his fingers into the pot and stirring it. He has no business in Ferguson. So of course he’s there. Making things worse instead of better. Making Things Worse is the Obama administration’s brand, as it were.
Holder was the focus of an interview with J. Christian Adams this week when Adams was interviewed by Megan Kelly. Adams noted that Holder “has carried around in his wallet for 30 years a quote that says he shares common cause with the black criminal.”
It makes perfect sense in light of who Holder is. But it still gives one pause to think that the Attorney General of the United States identifies with criminals.
Adams went on to say:
This is an Attorney General who has a Civil Rights division that has been engaged in a war against police departments around this country…. They cannot be trusted. They’re ideologues. They do not like the police.
Adams described Holder’s Civil Rights division as invested in going to places like Ferguson and taking sides with the lawless against law abiding citizens, noting that this is a “trend” which he anticipates will play out in Ferguson.
Kelly then read a statement made by Missouri State Senator, Jamilah Nasheed:
If you should decide to not indict this police officer, the rioting we have witnessed this past week will seem like a picnic compared to the havoc that will likely occur.
To which Adams responded: “It’s a new America we’re living in, Megan.”
Indeed.
We’re in uncharted territory folks, because we are up against enormous forces that have the potential to thoroughly overwhelm us if every single person is not invested in giving this fight their all.
