The Latest Admission from the Obama IRS is Not Only Maddening, It’s Criminal

Since the start of the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into the Obama IRS targeting of the Tea Party and other conservative groups began, there have been ever-changing stories from the group that abused its power to punish political dissenters from Barack Obama’s agenda.
Lois Lerner initially gave a soapbox speech in which she claimed she did nothing wrong, then pled the Fifth and refused to answer any questions. The House Republicans were accused of conducting a witch hunt. Even as evidence surfaced that proved collusion between top Democrats, even Elijah Cummings who is on the investigative committee, and the IRS, there was the continued claim made that there was no scandal.
When the claim that the targeting scandal was the result of a few rogue employees in the Cincinnati office was debunked as a lie, Democrats still claimed there was no scandal. In fact, Barack Obama even adamantly claimed, during a pre-Super Bowl 2014 interview with FOX News’ Bill O’Reilly, that there was not even a smidgen of corruption at the IRS. Obama was proven to be aliar in regards to that claim days later.
We were told that the agency did have all of Lois Lerner’s emails, then we were told they did not. The claim was made that they were destroyed when her hard drive crashed. We were told that no backups of the emails were done, even though that is required by law. On Tuesday, Judicial Watch obtained an admittance from the Justice Department that, contrary to the lies previously told, the backups were done, but they would not search for the emails pertinent to the case because it would be too difficult.
Now comes an even more stunning admission from the Obama IRS that screams of criminal misconduct in the destruction of evidence.
FOX News reports that Thomas Kane, deputy chief counsel for the IRS, admitted in a sworn declaration that Lois Lerner’s Blackberry, which would have given Congress access to her emails in their investigation, was intentionally destroyed after the congressional probe into the scandal began.
Thomas Kane, Deputy Assistant Chief Counsel for the IRS, wrote in the declaration, part of a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch against the IRS, that the Blackberry was “removed or wiped clean of any sensitive or proprietary information and removed as scrap for disposal in June 2012.”
That date – June 2012 – is significant because by that time, ex-IRS official Lerner had already been summoned before congressional staffers who interviewed her about reports of the IRS’ targeting of conservative groups.
“We had already talked to her. Our personal staff and Oversight Committee staff had sat down with Ms. Lerner and confronted her about information we were getting from conservative groups in the state of Ohio and around the country,” Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told Fox News.
“If you intentionally destroy evidence, that is a crime. If you make a statement in court saying the evidence is not available and it is, that is also a crime,” said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice.
The IRS did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
How will the Obama regime’s respond to this latest and damning admission by the IRS deputy chief counsel?
